Condemning the harassment caused to Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar jail, senior AAP leader Atishi said the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to torture him as he is being denied the facilities available to even dreaded criminals in the jail, and that his body weight is being manipulated as a part of a big conspiracy.
Addressing the media, Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi said the BJP has arrested Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal in a fake case. As the 21-day bail granted by the honourable Supreme Court ended yesterday, Shri Arvind Kejriwal ji surrendered and went to Tihar Jail. But the BJP-ruled central government has not found peace. The BJP is leaving no stone unturned to harass Shri Arvind Kejriwal. Shri Arvind Kejriwal surrendered and has been kept in a cell where he has not even been provided with a (desert) cooler. At a time when the temperature in Delhi is reaching 48 degrees, 50 degrees, where air coolers are provided to notorious criminals in Tihar Jail, the popular Chief Minister of Delhi Shri Arvind Kejriwal has not been given a cooler in this scorching heat.
The senior AAP leader said I want to ask the BJP, I want to ask their LG saheb how low will you stoop, is there no limit to your cruelty? You first stand in court and oppose the interim bail of a diabetic patient who has been suffering from diabetes for 30 years and whose weight has been falling continuously in the last few months. When he surrenders like a law-abiding citizen, you keep him in a scorching cell, you don’t even provide him an air cooler.
“I want to tell the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the people of Delhi will never forgive you and if you torture Arvind Kejriwal so much, then leave alone the people of Delhi, even God will not forgive you,” she said.
The Delhi Cabinet Minister said not only this, yesterday when Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal went to Tihar Jail, he underwent a medical examination. When he first weighed himself on the weighing machine, his weight came out to be only 61 kg, then the Bharatiya Janata Party-administered Tihar Jail got scared. They understood that if this matter comes to the fore in the country and the world, in the court that Arvind Kejriwal’s weight has dropped to 61 kg, then naturally the court will be angry, the public will be angry. So, what did the Tihar administration do? They brought another weighing machine, they got the weight checked again, in the second weighing machine, Arvind Kejriwal’s weight came out to be 64 kg. Still, the BJP-ruled Tihar Jail felt that this was also much less than Arvind Kejriwal’s weight of 70 kg on March 21, so whatever Arvind Kejriwal ji has said in the court will be proved right.
“Then they brought a third weighing machine in which Arvind Kejriwal’s weight was recorded as 66.5 kg. And today I can tell you with confidence that in a few hours, the Bharatiya Janata Party, their LG saheb, their PMO will tell the whole world that Arvind Kejriwal’s weight has not decreased, Arvind Kejriwal’s weight is 66.5 kg. So, I want to tell you that this is a conspiracy of the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Tihar administration. Until they used a weighing machine that was not showing his weight incorrect (higher), they kept bringing new machines again and again,” said Atishi.
The senior AAP leader said Shri Arvind Kejriwal weighed himself at home before going to Tihar (on June 2), his weight came out to be 63 kg on the home machine. On March 21, the day he was arrested by the ED, his weight was 70 kg, so this is 7 kg less than the weight of March 21. Why he has lost 7 kg is a serious matter for doctors. But it is sad that the BJP’s ED was strongly opposing Arvind Kejriwal’s bail even for 7 days to conduct tests.
Warning the BJP not to do such petty politics, the Delhi Cabinet Minister said, “Remember, if you torture Delhi’s popular Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal so much, then not only the people of Delhi, but even God will not forgive you. The way Arvind Kejriwal’s weight is being recorded incorrectly, Delhi’s Health Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj will also take cognizance of this because it seems that a big conspiracy is being hatched,” concluded Atishi.
