The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of conducting a witchhunt against its leaders. The BJP has targeted the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia, and got him arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a false case on Sunday. Several AAP leaders hit out at the BJP on, condemning its actions.
Speaking at a press conference, MCD Mayor Dr Shelly Oberoi accused the BJP of trying to prevent AAP from becoming popular across the country under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. She described the CBI enquiry against Manish Sisodia as a ploy to arrest him in order to slow down the revolution of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal. The mayor labeled February 26, 2023, as a ‘dark day’ in India’s history as an honest education minister of a clean government was arrested on that day.
AAP MLA Shri Dilip Pandey, questioned the rationality of the accusations against Shri Manish Sisodia. He described the allegations against Shri Manish Sisodia as a “pack of jokes” and accused the BJP of attacking the 18 lakh families in Delhi who have entrusted the future of their children to him.
AAP Leader Smt Priyanka Kakkar questioned why the CBI is not investigating the likes of Himanta Biswa Sarma, who Amit Shah used to call the most corrupt politician, Mukul Roy, Nitin Sandesara, and BS Yediyurappa. She asserted that the country’s best education minister, Manish Sisodia is being hounded because his vision is radically different from that of the union education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, who had stated on the record that they cannot provide the children of domestic workers with the same kind of education as the granddaughter of President Draupadi Murmu.
AAP MLA Shri Somnath Bharti said that the entire country is witness to what has happened to Shri Manish Sisodia, a person who has not only made Delhi but the whole country proud in the field of education across the world. The Delhi Education Minister showed the country that government schools can be built into institutions that the children will be proud and happy to come to and introduced unique teaching methodology such as Mindset Curriculum, Entrepreneurship Curriculum and Deskbhakti Curriculum. Shri Somnath Bharti expressed regret that the BJP is now trying to damage the reputation of a person who brought a positive change to the lives of over 18 lakh children in Delhi.
The BJP is allegedly afraid of the popularity of Shri Arvind Kejriwal and AAP, and their electoral prospects are declining because of the rising graph of AAP. AAP leaders have called on the BJP to stop implicating them in false cases and advised that they are not afraid of going to jail. They added that they derive their courage from icons such as Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Sardar Bhagat Singh and therefore such conspiracies of the BJP do not scare them.
