Senior AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Ms. Atishi said at a press conference in Sonitpur, Assam, that the Aam Aadmi Party will definitely win Dibrugarh and Sonitpur Lok Sabha seats in Assam. She said that the AAP will definitely get the love and blessings of the people in Assam. The Aam Aadmi Party candidates are giving tough competition to the BJP in Sonitpur and Dibrugarh seats, hence the BJP is scared. The BJP is also scared because they did not fulfill any of the promises they made _ Rs 351 wage to tea workers, giving ‘Scheduled Tribe’ status to tribal groups, giving land lease to workers. All the promises have proved to be mere rhetoric, she added.
Ms. Atishi said that the people of Assam have immense love for the Aam Aadmi Party and Shri Arvind Kejriwal. Who could have imagined that a party running the government in Delhi would get a seat in the municipal elections of Guwahati and Tinsukia? The Aam Aadmi Party has been receiving lots of love and blessings from the people of Assam. We hope that this time in Assam, when the Aam Aadmi Party is contesting the elections on the Lok Sabha seats of Sonitpur and Dibrugarh, people of Assam will shower the AAP with their love and blessings.
She said that the fear of the BJP in Assam is evident today as the Aam Aadmi Party’s Sonitpur and Dibrugarh candidates are giving tough competition to the BJP. Yesterday, Home Minister Shri Amit Shah himself came to Tinsukia to do a road show and we have learnt that Shri Manoj Tiwari will also come here to campaign, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is also expected to come here. What has happened in these two Lok Sabha seats of Assam that all the big leaders of the BJP are coming here to campaign.
Ms. Atishi said that the only reason for this fear is that the Aam Aadmi Party is giving tough competition to the BJP, and now the BJP is afraid that it will lose to the Aam Aadmi Party on both these seats.
She said because of this fear, the entire administration in Assam is being used against the Aam Aadmi Party and in support of the BJP. We are seeing again and again that the administration is giving its unilateral support to the BJP. The BJP’s campaign material is being displayed on government hoardings, women from government self-help groups are being brought to their rallies. The AAP seeks permission first, but the BJP gets approvals before the AAP. In the name of Home Minister Shri Amit Shah’s security, the Aam Aadmi Party leaders were stooped from going to the rally in Tinsukia, added the senior AAP leader.
Ms. Atishi said that all these instances indicate that the BJP in Assam is afraid of both the candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party. The BJP is also feeling scared because they made false promises to the people of Assam. The BJP promised that if they win in both Lok Sabha and Assembly, they will give wages of Rs 351 to the people working in tea plantations, but they did not. The BJP had promised to give land lease to the people working in tea plantations but that also didn’t happen. They promised to give ‘Scheduled Tribe’ status to 6 tribal groups but that too proved to be a lie.
She stated that the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi assured the people of Assam that if the BJP forms government here, then the outsiders who are living in Assam should be ready to pack their bags. However, after 10 years, the same Narendra Modi is bringing the CAA law and says that the government will give houses, citizenship and land to the people coming from outside. People living in Assam do not even get land lease but those coming from abroad will be given all this under the CAA.
Ms. Atishi said that the people of Assam have seen that the BJP’s slogans cannot be trusted. Therefore, I am confident that the Aam Aadmi Party will definitely open its account in Assam in the Lok Sabha elections.
