To tide over the unprecedented water shortage in Delhi, Water Minister Atishi has urged the BJP to appeal to its governments in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to provide additional water to Delhi till heatwave continues and until monsoon arrives instead of doing dirty politics in this hour of crisis.

Addressing a virtual press conference on Friday, Delhi’s Water Minister Atishi stated that there is a severe heatwave in Delhi right now. During this severe heatwave, there is a water crisis in Delhi, the people of Delhi are distraught. And at such a time when the people of Delhi are already going through so much, the BJP is doing dirty politics. Today, the BJP gathered many of its volunteers and protested outside the Delhi Secretariat.

“I want to ask the BJP that when there is such a time of emergency, when there is severe heatwave, when the temperature is exceeding 50 degrees, when the people of Delhi are struggling with troubles, is this the time to do dirty politics? Shouldn’t we come together at this time?” She asked.

The Delhi Water Minister stated, “Adjacent to Delhi are Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, both of which have BJP governments. I would appeal to the BJP that this is the time to come together. This is the time to appeal to your Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments. If the BJP will ask the Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments, then these states will certainly give some water to Delhi. So, I would appeal to the BJP that the people of Delhi are extremely troubled, they are in a state of emergency. The people of Delhi are struggling with the searing heatwave.”

Addressing the BJP, she said if you want to support the people of Delhi, if you want to work together, if you want some improvement in the lives of the people of Delhi, we appeal to you to ask your Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments to help Delhi by giving them some extra water for just one month, till this sweltering heat wave continues, until the monsoon arrives.

“Delhi is the capital of the country, people from all over the country come to Delhi for employment, better facilities, better education for children, and better treatment. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us that if people are troubled in the national capital, then we should not do dirty and cheap politics at this time, but rather do something that gives some ease and relief to the people of Delhi in this difficult situation,” Minister Atishi concluded.
