Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav and senior CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat visited Delhi Water Minister Atishi at LNJP Hospital on Wednesday morning, where she was admitted after her health deteriorated during the ‘Jal Satyagraha’. Both leaders inquired about Atishi’s condition and praised her bravery and commitment to fighting for the people of Delhi. Akhilesh Yadav condemned the central government for its discrimination against opposition party chief ministers, particularly highlighting CM Arvind Kejriwal’s situation. Brinda Karat criticized the central government and the LG for their discriminatory policies regarding Delhi’s water issues. Senior leaders including AAP MP Sanjay Singh, SP MP Lalji Verma, Rajiv Rai, and Anand Bhadauria were also present during the visit.
Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav said that I went to the hospital and met Water Minister Atishi and enquired about her health. Atishi is very brave and knows how to fight for her people. Along with being the Water Minister, she has been constantly fighting to solve the problems of Delhiites. At the time when the BJP government was formed at the centre, the BJP MP had said that I had been the Chief Minister and know the problems and troubles of the Chief Minister; but ever since the BJP government has been formed in Delhi, the problems of the Chief Ministers of the opposition parties have increased. Delhi did not get the help that it should have got from the central government. The central government has constantly discriminated against the governments of the opposition parties.
The Samajwadi Party Chief further added that the central government has discriminated the most against the Kejriwal government of Delhi. CM Arvind Kejriwal has been discriminated against the most. Delhi has CM Arvind Kejriwal’s government. He wants to work for the people of Delhi. He wants to work on how to provide better health facilities to Delhiites. He wants to work on how to provide good education and other facilities in Delhi. On the other hand, the central government is constantly creating hurdles in the work of the Delhi government and causing trouble and problems in many ways.
“When CM Arvind Kejriwal started getting relief from everywhere he would have come out of jail by now. The central government must also be aware that CM Arvind Kejriwal will come out. CM Arvind Kejriwal should not be able to come out of jail, he should not be able to reach among the people, and he should not be able to run the government properly, so he has been trapped by filing who knows what kind of case against him,” he stated.
Akhilesh Yadav said that this is not the first time that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) people are trapping people. They have been trapping people continuously. BJP people trap those who pose a threat to them through CBI. The use of CBI and Delhi institutions is not a new thing. The result of this was that people voted against BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. Fortunately, these people were saved from losing power, otherwise, the BJP would have been wiped out from the central government.
On the other hand, Senior Leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Brinda Karat also went to LNJP hospital and met Water Minister Atishi. She said that Atishi is fighting very bravely for the people of Delhi. It is very sad that the central government and LG are not fulfilling their responsibility and are adopting a policy of discrimination against the water of the people of Delhi. Atishi’s hunger strike did not bother the Centre and Lieutenant Governor, whereas this is not Atishi’s fight but the fight of the people. Atishi has fought the people’s battle very bravely. We came here to salute her. Atishi has told us that after her health improves, she will fight for Delhi again.
It is noteworthy that senior AAP leader and Delhi’s Water Minister Atishi has been on an indefinite water hunger strike in Jangpura’s Bhogal since March 21. She was on hunger strike without eating anything to ensure that Delhiites get their rightful share of water. The Haryana government is not giving Delhi its rightful share of water. Haryana is withholding Delhi’s 100 MGD water, due to which 28 lakh people of Delhi are not getting water. On the fifth day of the hunger strike to ensure that Delhi gets its rightful share of water, Atishi’s blood sugar and BP dropped significantly and the ketone level in her urine also increased, due to which her health condition became critical and LNJP doctors advised her to get admitted to the hospital immediately, saying that her life was in danger. She was admitted to the ICU of the hospital at around 3:40 am on Tuesday. Now her health is stable.
Many leaders of opposition parties and well-wishers are coming to the hospital to meet her. In this connection, Samajwadi Party’s National President Akhilesh Yadav also met her on Wednesday morning and enquired about her health.
