Today, a captivating Qawwali program was organized at Jamia Millia Islamia University by the Urdu Academy under the auspices of the Delhi government. This special event is part of the Delhi government’s ongoing efforts to revive cultural richness and diversity. Students, scholars, and vibrant communities from Jamia University actively participated in the program, especially providing the youth with an opportunity to learn about their traditions and culture. Delhi’s Minister of Art, Culture, and Languages Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj was the Chief Guest for the program.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj expressed his pleasure, stating, “I am delighted that the Delhi government has organized this Mushaira program at Jamia Millia Islamia, and I am grateful for the chance to be part of this program and meet you all. The Delhi government’s Urdu Academy is hosting this Mushaira, signifying a great joy that we all have the opportunity to come together in such programs, learning about our heritage from our ancestors. This program is being organized within Jamia Millia Islamia because Jamia Millia Islamia is not only known for education but is also a cultural centre. Jamia Millia Islamia is not just promoting education, but consistently working to bring together cultures associated with different religions, fostering unity and brotherhood.”
The Delhi Minister of Art, Culture, and Languages mentioned that in Delhi, people from different cultures and regions live together. In Delhi, there are often programs that showcase our Ganga-Jamuni culture to society. This evening, the Mushaira program at Jamia is an attempt to present our Urdu culture to the younger generation and help them understand its beauty so that our youth can carry forward the heritage of our ancestors. This program is an effort by Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal to keep Urdu culture alive in the hearts of the people. In the coming times, such programs will continue to be organized in Delhi.
Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said that not only the Urdu Academy but also other academies under the Ministry of Art, Culture, and Language of the Delhi government, including the Hindi Academy, Punjabi Academy, and others, are organizing programs related to respective cultures in Delhi. Through these programs, our endeavor is for people connected with different religions, castes, and cultures to learn about each other and foster mutual love, brotherhood, and harmony among people.
