BJP manifesto is nothing but just a fresh set of jumlas : Arvind Kejriwal
· AAP convenor asks BJP about its 2014 promise of statehood for Delhi
Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Mr Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said the BJP manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections is nothing but a fresh set of jumlas.
In his reaction, Mr Kejriwal stated :“BJP unveils a fresh set of jumlas without telling the country what is the fate of its 2014 jumlas. Modi-Shah don’t have the courage to speak on why demonetisation was done ? What happened to two crore jobs ? Why were farmers pushed towards destruction?”
Mr Kejriwal said the BJP had promised full statehood for Delhi in 2014 Lok sabha elections, but has now reversed its stand on this important issue. “Now you have removed Delhi statehood from your manifesto altogether. You have deceived the people of Delhi. It is clear that you lie in the manifesto. How can the people trust your manifesto,” Mr Kejriwal asked.
The AAP social media team analysed the BJP Lok Sabha manifestoes of 2014 and 2019, and found the following identical promises repeated, almost copied in some cases :
WOMEN RESERVATION
2014: “BJP is committed to 33% reservation in parliamentary and state assemblies through a constitutional amendment”
2019: “BJP is committed to 33% reservation in parliament and state assemblies through a constitutional amendment”
ARTICLE 370
2014: BJP reiterates its stand on the Article 370, and will discuss this with all stakeholders and remains committed to the abrogation of this article.
2019: We reiterate our position since the time of the Jan Sangh to the abrogation of Aicle 370.
UNIFORM CIVIL CODE
2014: “BJP believes that there cannot be gender equality till such time India adopts a Uniform Civil Code”
2019: “BJP believes that there cannot be gender equality till such time India adopts a Uniform Civil Code”
RAM MANDIR
2014: “BJP reiterates its stand to explore all possibilities within the framework of the constitution to facilitate the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya”
2019: “We will explore all possibilities within the framework of the Constitution and all necessary efforts to facilitate the expeditious construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya”
POLICE REFORMS
2014: Provide the State governments with all assistance to modernize their respective police forces and equip them with the latest technology. This will be taken up on a mission mode approach
2019: We will provide assistance to the states to upgrade their police forces through the ‘Scheme for Modernization of Police Forces’.
GANGA
2014: BJP commits to ensure the cleanliness, purity and uninterrupted flow of the Ganga on priority. In addition, a massive ‘Clean Rivers Programme’ will be launched across the country driven by people’s participation.
2019: We are committed to ensure a clean and uninterrupted flow of river Ganga from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar.
Mr Narendra Modi who came to power riding on tall promises made by him during 2014 elections, now stands exposed as he has failed to deliver on all fronts. While he may have succeeded in folling voters in 2014, this time Mr Modi stands exposed as his failures are glaring at him in the face. His tendency to make outrageous claims and over the top promises has resulted in a total and complete loss of credibility on his part.
AAP challenges the BJP to compare the promises made by team Modi in 2014 Lok Sabha elections with the manifesto and performance of AAP in 2015 Delhi Assembly elections.
The AAP Social Media team ran a campaign on the party’s official national Twitter handle, highlighting various ‘broken promises’ of BJP from their older manifesto including promises of bringing back all the black money stashed up in foreign banks, providing 2 crore jobs, reservation for women, cleaning ganga and many more.
There are rumors that @BJP4India will release their new manifesto today. While we wait for that – let's have a look at what happened to their promises made in 2014. pic.twitter.com/EQb31WpaoI
