AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who is on a three-day visit to Goa, met the people of Benaulim and Velim assembly constituencies and took feedback from them on the work done by his MLAs. During this time, he also visited four mohalla clinics started by Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas without government help, where he talked to the patients who were getting free treatment.
Expressing happiness over the excellent response received from the public regarding both the AAP MLAs _ Venzy Viegas and Velim MLA Cruz Silva _, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that for the first time in the country, Aam Aadmi Party has started the politics of work. For the last 75 years, the game of money to power and power to money was going on in the country. Therefore, we decided that sitting in the drawing room and abusing the parties and leaders who are looting the country will not work. “If you want to clean this mud, you will have to take a broom and enter politics yourself. Today, in Delhi and Punjab, AAP government provides 24 hours electricity and people have zero electricity bill,” he said.
During this, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and AAP’s National Organization General Secretary Dr. Sandeep Pathak were also present.
AAP’s national convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal, who is on Goa tour, took feedback from the people there regarding the work being done by Benaulim Assembly MLA Venzy Viegas and Velim MLA Cruz Silva. He lauded the efforts made by MLA Venzy Viegas in running four mohalla clinics in his constituency with the help of donations and providing free treatment to the people without any government help. Arvind Kejriwal himself visited the mohalla clinic and talked to the patients undergoing treatment there. He congratulated Venzy Vegas for the excellent free treatment provided to the patients. Impressed by the Mohalla Clinics opened by the AAP government in Delhi and Punjab, MLA Venzy Viegas decided to open Mohalla Clinics in his constituency and is providing free treatment to the people.
We have not come into politics to earn money; we have come to serve the public: Arvind Kejriwal
AAP’s national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “Two years ago, we had come to the people of Goa to seek votes and the people had great faith in us and made his brother and son Venzy Vegas win. Many people keep coming and going from Goa to Delhi and Punjab. We were given feedback by the people of Goa that both AAP MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva are doing a very good job. We are here to know whether our MLAs are really doing good work or not,” he said.
Shri Kejriwal said it is often seen that national presidents of national parties come to seek votes in elections only once in five years, but no one comes to see the work of his party’s MLAs. “The Aam Aadmi Party only does politics of work. The word politics of work was coined for the first time in the Political Dictionary. Till date, there was politics of religion, caste, temples-mosques, corruption, abuses and fighting, but no one did politics of work. Because no one wants to work, everyone comes into politics to earn money. Earn money for five years and then distribute the money before the elections and buy votes and become MLAs,” he said.
Talking about the birth of the AAP, Shri Kejriwal said that this is what has been going on in the country for the last 75 years: money to power, power to money. “We have not come into politics to earn money; we have come to serve the public. We have left our careers and joined politics. Because we felt that all these parties and leaders together looted the country. We decided that sitting in the drawing room and abusing the leaders would not work, rather we would have to get into the mud and clean the mud ourselves with our brooms. After this we formed the Aam Aadmi Party,” he said.
AAP government in Punjab has done lot of work in just one and half to two years: Arvind Kejriwal
The AAP National Convenor said that after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party, they won three consecutive elections in Delhi. “In the first elections, the people of Delhi gave us 28 seats out of 70 and we formed the government. However, the first government could last only for 49 days. For the second time, the public gave us 67 seats out of 70. The people of Delhi were very happy after seeing our wonderful work of 49 days and gave us 67 seats in the elections held after a year. In the elections held five years later, it gave 62 seats out of 70. No new party has received such a big mandate three times in a row.”
He said this was possible because of the performance of the AAP government in Delhi. “Before us, no government of any party in Delhi had done such work. After seeing the work in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party government was formed in Punjab. In Punjab, we got 92 seats out of 117. Our government has done a lot of work within one and a half to two years. Earlier, there used to be power cuts of 7-8 hours in Delhi and Punjab, but now electricity is available 24 hours and the electricity bill is zero,” said Shri Kejriwal.
We don’t have a government in Goa, yet AAP MLAs are giving free treatment to people by opening mohalla clinics: Arvind Kejriwal
Shri Kejriwal said that AAP government has started mohalla clinics in Delhi and Punjab. About 550 mohalla clinics are running in every corner of Delhi and there will be 800 mohalla clinics in Punjab by January 26. “People do not have to go to big hospitals for treatment of minor diseases. Complete treatment is free in Mohalla Clinic. I was very surprised when I came to know that Venzy Viegas has opened Mohalla Clinic in Goa. Because there is no Aam Aadmi Party government in Goa. Later it came to light that the mohalla clinic had been opened with donations,” said the AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
He said the AAP is running governments in Delhi and Punjab, and they have government money to do it. But without government help, Venzy Viegas has so far opened four mohalla clinics in Goa. For these mohalla clinics, doctors and some medicines are provided by hospitals, some other medicines are provided by pharmacies. He said that the party which is in power in Goa has not built mohalla clinics for the people here. “The ruling party has 33 MLAs. None of these MLAs has opened a mohalla clinic. They have no intention of working. But Aam Aadmi Party MLAs have the intention to work. That is why the AAP MLA has opened Mohalla Clinic through his connections. Because our feeling is to serve the people. This effort of AAP MLA Venzy Viegas shows that if our government is formed in Goa, such works of public interest can be done which no one would have even thought of,” said Shri Kejriwal.
If we bring people with good intentions into government, we can get roads, electricity, water, schools, hospitals: Arvind Kejriwal
He said that during the elections in Punjab, other parties used to say that the Aam Aadmi Party was making false promises. Punjab government is running in loss. If you don’t have money, then how will you get free electricity? “We made electricity free within four months of forming the government. Earlier, all the money was being stolen and we stopped that theft,” said the AAP National Convenor.
Shri Kejriwal said under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government is not running in loss, because now more revenue has started coming in than before. “Our government is also fulfilling the deficit of the last 75 years. There is no shortage of money in the government, there is only lack of intention. If someone comes and says that the government is running in loss, then assume that he is stealing money,” he said.
Urging the people to bring people with good intentions into the government, Shri Kejriwal said there will be no dearth of money in the government. “The public can get everything like roads, electricity, water, schools, hospitals. He said that just as the fragrance of a flower spreads all around, similarly the work being done by our MLA in Benaulim Assembly will spread all over Goa,” he said.
Appealing the masses to elect INDIA alliance candidate in the Lok Sabha elections and help win the next Assembly elections in Goa, Shri Kejriwal said, “If we get the support of the public in 2027, we will form a government with full majority in Goa. Lok Sabha elections are near. Our INDIA alliance has been formed. My appeal is that whoever is the candidate of INDIA alliance, please make him win and send him to the Parliament.”
Only AAP does school-hospital politics in country, no other party does: Bhagwant Mann
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that AAP MLA Venzy Viegas has done a lot of good work in the field of health in Benaulim. Only Aam Aadmi Party can do this, no one else can. “This thinking can only be of Arvind Kejriwal and not of anyone else. The rest do politics of hatred, religion, and caste. It is only Aam Aadmi Party which does politics of hospitals, schools, electricity, water, and infrastructure,” said Bhagwant Mann.
He said the AAP government has been formed in Delhi for the third time. Punjab is close to Delhi. There is a distance of only 250 kilometres between the two states. “This is the reason that the works of Delhi reached Punjab and in 2022, the people of Punjab also approved the works of Delhi and gave 92 seats out of 117 to the Aam Aadmi Party. After the formation of Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, I started doing all the work of Delhi,” said Bhagwant Mann.
So far, 70 lakh people have received treatment in Mohalla clinics of Punjab: Bhagwant Mann
CM Bhagwant Mann said that the Punjab government applied the model of work of CM Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi in Punjab. Taking the model of Mohalla Clinic from him, it was started in Punjab. However, he did not face the same problems that Arvind Kejriwal faced in opening Mohalla Clinic in Delhi. The result today is that there are 664 mohalla clinics in Punjab and 120 new mohalla clinics are ready to open. “It is possible that by January 26, there will be 800 mohalla clinics in Punjab. It will be surprising to know that till now 70 lakh people have got their treatment from these clinics in Punjab. This means that in a state with a population of about 3 to 3.5 crores, every fourth person is treated in this clinic,” he said.
Bhagwant Mann said based on the records maintained by the health department, it is possible to know the number of patients that are suffering from which type of disease in which area. “From this, we are getting to know which disease is spreading more in which area in Punjab. On this basis, we are arranging specialist doctors there and opening hospitals to prevent that disease,” he said.
If you want work being done in Delhi and Punjab, then AAP should form government in Goa also: Bhagwant Mann
Bhagwant Mann said that 40,000 government jobs have been given in Punjab in 20 months. Today electricity is free in Delhi and Punjab. Electricity bills of 90 percent people are coming to zero. “Today, there is an honest government in Punjab and it follows the pledges and promises given by Arvind Kejriwal. On January 1, the Punjab government bought a loss-making 540 MW private thermal power plant. This is the first time that a private company is being bought by the public sector. Punjab Government has purchased this thermal power plant at Sri Goindwal Sahib near Amritsar for Rs 1080 crore,” he said.
Bhagwant Mann said that if people need work in Goa like that is being done in Delhi and Punjab, then they must also pick up the broom. “It does not require any big movement, you just have to press the button of the broom. After this your work ends and our responsibility begins,” he said.
