The Aam Aadmi Party announced the candidature of Dr Shelly Oberoi and Shri Aaley Mohammad Iqbal for the posts of MCD Mayor and Dy Mayor on Friday. The AAP has nominated Shri Aamil Malik, Smt Raminder Kaur, Smt Mohini Jeenwal and Smt Sarika Choudhary for the posts of Standing Committee members. The names were decided during a meeting of the PAC held at the residence of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal. The CM congratulated all the candidates on the occasion and motivated them to work in the interest of Delhiites. AAP National Secretary Shri Pankaj Gupta said, “The party has nominated Shelly Oberoi from Ward 86 in Patel Nagar Assembly for the post of Mayor and Aaley Mohammad Iqbal from Ward 76 in Matia Mahal Assembly for the post of Dy Mayor. I would like to congratulate all the candidates on the behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party and hope that they live up to the expectations of Delhiites.” On the occasion, Mayoral Candidate Dr Shelly Oberoi stated, “For the last 15 years, BJP had been turning Delhi into a huge dumpster, AAP has now taken the onus to clean it.”
The Aam Aadmi Party PAC met in Delhi on Friday to decide the party’s candidates for MCD’s leadership positions. During the meeting, the PAC approved the candidature of its Mayoral Candidate, Deputy Mayoral Candidate as well as 4 candidates for the membership of the Standing Committee. Giving more information on the same, AAP National Secretary Shri Pankaj Gupta said, “We are aware that the people are eagerly looking forward to the names of candidates that the Aam Aadmi Party is to declare for the elections to the various posts in the MCD. It was in this regard that the PAC meeting was held this morning at the residence of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal. We discussed the names of a few candidates in this meeting. We discussed the names of six candidates today for various posts in the MCD.”
He added, “Aamil Malik (Ward No 246, Karawal Nagar), Raminder Kaur (Ward No 100, Harinagar), Mohini Jeenwal (Ward No 218, Seemapuri), Sarika Chaudhary (Ward No 142, Jangpura) – are the four names that the party has proposed for the Standing Committee. For the post of the Deputy Mayor, the name of Aaley Iqbal (Ward No 76, Chandini Mahal) has been proposed. For the post of the Mayor, which is reserved for a woman candidate, the name of Dr Shelly Oberoi (Ward No 86, Patel Nagar) has been proposed by AAP.”
He concluded, “I would like to congratulate all these candidates on the behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party and we sincerely hope that these candidates will go on to fulfil the expectations of the citizens of Delhi.”

Aam Aadmi Party’s Mayoral Candidate, Dr Shelly Oberoi said, “I would like to thank Shri Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party for entrusting me with this responsibility. Over the next few months we will all work together to make Delhi the city that it should have been. The BJP during its tenure in the last 15 years has turned Delhi into the “Garbage Capital of the Country”. We will work together to ensure that Delhi becomes clean again.”
Describing the priorities as the mayor of MCD Dr. Shelly Oberoi said, “the party had given 10 guarantees during the elections, they will be fulfilled. Delhi will be cleaned and transformed. The promises made by Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal to the public will be fulfilled. The BJP had not done any work and had turned Delhi into garbage, we will fix all of it now.”
He said, “now the elections are over and our aim will be to make Delhi better together with everyone. We will soon work by preparing a blueprint for the cleanliness of Delhi and start clearing the mountains of garbage. Our councillors have started working in the wards even before taking their oath.”

Brief Profile of Dr Shelly Oberoi
Dr. Shelly Oberoi, born in Delhi, has been elected councillor from Ward 86 in the civic elections. She has done her PhD from IGNOU’s School of Management Studies. She has been an assistant professor in several reputed universities.
Inspired by the ideology of Aam Aadmi Party, she joined as an activist in 2013. She became the Delhi State Vice President of Aam Aadmi Party’s women’s wing 2 years ago. Dr. Shelly Oberoi contested the election of councillor for the first time and defeated the BJP candidate by 269 votes.
Brief Profile of Aaley Mohammad Iqbal
Aaley Mohammad Iqbal has been elected councillor from Ward 76 Chandni Mahal, Delhi. Aaley Iqbal was up against Irfan Malik of BJP and Mohammad Hamid of Congress in this election. He won the election by a record margin of over 17,000 votes. Earlier, he was a councillor in 2012 and 2017 as well. He became councillor from Delhi Gate ward in 2017 and Turkman Gate in 2012. In 2012, he was the chairman of the city zone of North MCD.
About Mohini Jeenwal
Mohini Jeenwal has been elected from Ward 218 of Sunder Nagri, the karambhoomi of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal. She won the election for the second time on the symbol of Aam Aadmi Party. Prior to this, she has been a member of Delhi Safai Karamcharis Commission and Delhi Women’s Commission. Along with this, she was the Vidhan Sabha President and State Vice President of the women’s wing of the Aam Aadmi Party. During her last tenure, she had been vocally raising issues related to the public in the East Delhi Municipal Corporation House.
About Sarika Choudhary
Indian Dalit social activist Sarika Choudhary is a member of the Delhi Commission for Women. She was born in 1987 in a Dalit family in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh. Her father is a Dalit farmer. From Uttar Pradesh to Delhi, she is working for the welfare of the weaker sections. Her work has focused on Dalit social activities, child development and advocating the Dalit women’s rights. She completed her LLB from MJP Rohilkhand University and Pursuing MSW from IGNOU. While growing up she experienced caste based violence and discrimination in her village. She started working for Sahara LICs at an early age and used the earned commissions to sponsor her own education.
Her political career started in 2004. She contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 from Nagina district of Uttar Pradesh from Aam Aadmi Party. She was in charge of Mahila Suraksha Mitras in 2020 to resolve issues related to women safety in their respective areas in Delhi under the DCW. Apart from this, in 2014-15, she was the Delhi state secretary and East Delhi district in-charge of the AAP Women’s Wing. She was also a member of the Governing Body of Kalindi College in 2015-16.
She also worked towards supplying adequate ration, face masks and many other essential items to the underprivileged families during the COVID-19 pandemic. She arranged for special buses for migrant workers and helped them reach their desired destinations.
About Raminder Kaur
Raminder Kaur actively participated in the movement carried out by India Against Corruption in the initial years. She helped in formulating the strategy during the movement. She started grassroots dialogue among citizens in Hari Nagar. She later joined the Aam Aadmi Party and played a major role in promoting the ideals and vision of the party in West Delhi and has been an active member. She has also been a member of the School Management Committee and Chief Minister’s representative at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, Hari Nagar.
About Aamil Malik
Aamil Malik has been associated with Aam Aadmi Party since 2015. He officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2022. He earlier worked for the party in Assembly, Lok Sabha and Corporation elections. In 2022, he was made a member of the Delhi Minorities Commission. He distributed ration kits and helped people during the time of Corona. The Aam Aadmi Party also honoured him as a Corona warrior for his work during the time.

आम आदमी पार्टी ने आज एमसीडी के मेयर, डिप्टी मेयर और चार स्टैंडिंग कमेटी सदस्य पद के उम्मीदवारों के नामों का ऐलान कर दिया है। ‘आप’ के राष्ट्रीय सचिव पंकज गुप्ता ने कहा कि सीएम आवास पर पीएसी की हुई बैठक में शैली ओबरॉय को मेयर और आले मोहम्मद इक़बाल को डिप्टी मेयर पद का उम्मीदवार बनाया गया है। वहीं आप’ ने स्टैंडिंग कमेटी सदस्यों के लिए आमिल मलिक, रमिंदर कौर, मोहिनी जीनवाल और सारिका चौधरी को उम्मीदवार बनाया है। इसके बाद मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने ट्वीट कर बधाई देते हुए कहा कि आम आदमी पार्टी की मेयर पद की उम्मीदवार शैली ओबरॉय, उप मेयर पद के उम्मीदवार आलेक मोहम्मद सहित अन्य सदस्य उम्मीदवारों को बधाई और शुभकामनाएं। भगवान आप सभी को दिल्ली को साफ करने का आशीर्वाद दें। मेयर उम्मीदवार डॉ. शैली ओबरॉय पिछले 15 साल से बीजेपी ने दिल्ली को कूड़ा-कूड़ा किया है, उसका सफाया करेंगे।
आम आदमी पार्टी की पीएसी की बैठक आज मुख्यमंत्री आवास पर हुई। इसके बाद आम आदमी पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता एवं राष्ट्रीय सचिव पंकज गुप्ता ने पार्टी मुख्यालय में महत्वपूर्ण प्रेसवार्ता को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि जल्द ही एमसीडी के मेयर का चुनाव होने वाला है। मुख्यमंत्री आवास पर आज सुबह हुई मीटिंग में मेयर, उप मेयर और स्टैंडिंग कमेटी के उम्मीदवारों के नाम पर चर्चा हुई। हमने आज छह नामों पर चर्चा की है। जिनमें चार स्टैंडिंग कमेटी सदस्य, एक डिप्टी मेयर और एक मेयर का नाम है। चार स्टैंडिंग कमेटी सदस्यों के लिए करावाल नगर विधानसभा के वार्ड 246 से आमिल मलिक, हरि नगर विधानसभा के वार्ड 100 से रमिंदर कौर, सीमापुरी विधानसभा के वार्ड 218 से मोहिनी जीनवाल और जंगपुरा विधानसभा के वार्ड 142 से सारिका चौधरी का नाम तय किया गया है।
उन्होंने कहा कि दिल्ली नगर निगम के डिप्टी मेयर पद के लिए पार्टी ने मटिया महल विधानसभा के वॉर्ड 76 से आले मोहम्मद इक़बाल का नाम सोचा है। इसबार मेयर पद की सीट महिला सुरक्षित की गई है तो मेयर पद के लिए पार्टी ने पटेल नगर विधानसभा के वॉर्ड 86 से शैली ओबरॉय का नाम सोचा है। मेरी ओर से इन सभी को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं। मुझे विश्वास है कि यह लोग जनता के साथ मिलकर दिल्ली की उम्मीदों को पूरा करेंगे।
दिल्ली को चमकाने के लिए काम करेंगे- डॉ. शैली ओबरॉय
डॉक्टर शैली ओबरॉय ने कहा कि सबसे पहले मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल का धन्यवाद करना चाहूंगी, जिन्होंने मुझ पर भरोसा रखा और इतनी बड़ी जिम्मेदारी दी। हम सब मिलकर आने वाले समय में एमसीडी में दिल्ली को चमकाने के लिए काम करेंगे। पिछले 15 साल से बीजेपी ने दिल्ली को कूड़ा कूड़ा किया है, उसका सफाया करेंगे।
मेयर बनने के बाद की प्राथमिकताएं बताते हुए डॉ शैली ने कहा कि पार्टी ने चुनाव के दौरान 10 गारंटी दी थीं, उनको पूरा किया जाएगा। दिल्ली की साफ-सफाई कर चमकाया जाएगा। मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल की तरफ से जनता से किए गए वादों को पूरा किया जाएगा। भाजपा ने कोई काम नहीं किया था और दिल्ली को पूरा कूड़ा-कूडा कर दिया था।
उन्होंने कहा कि अब चुनाव खत्म हो चुके हैं और हमारा लक्ष्य सभी के साथ मिलकर दिल्ली को बेहतर बनाना होगा। दिल्ली की साफ-सफाई और कूड़े के पहाड़ हटाने को लेकर जल्द ब्लू प्रिंट तैयार कर काम किया जाएगा। हमारे पार्षदों ने शपथ होने से पहले ही वार्डों में काम करना शुरू कर दिया है।
दिल्ली को साफ सुथरा बनाने के अरविंद केजरीवाल जी के वादे को पूरा करने का प्रयास करेंगे- मोहिनी जीनवाल

डॉक्टर शैली ओबरॉय का परिचय
डॉक्टर शैली ओबरॉय का जन्म दिल्ली में ही हुआ है, जो कि निगम चुनावों में वार्ड 86 से पार्षद चुनी गई हैं। स्कूल ऑफ मैनेजमेंट स्टडी से इग्नू से पीएचडी किया है। वह कई यूनिवर्सिटी में असिस्टेंट प्रोफेसर रह चुकी हैं।
आम आदमी पार्टी की विचारधारा से प्रेरित होकर बतौर कार्यकर्ता 2013 में जुड़ी थीं। आम आदमी पार्टी ने महिला विंग की 2 साल पहले दिल्ली प्रदेश उपाध्यक्ष बनीं। मालूम हो कि डॉक्टर शैली ओबरॉय ने पार्षद का चुनाव पहली बार लड़ा है। पटेल नगर विधानसभा के वार्ड नंबर 86 से बीजेपी की दीपाली कपूर को 269 वोटों से हराया।
आले इकबाल का परिचय
आले इकबाल दिल्ली के वार्ड 76 चांदनी महल से पार्षद चुने गए हैं। आले इकबाल का मुकाबला इस चुनाव में बीजेपी के इरफान मलिक और कांग्रेस के मोहम्मद हामिद से हुआ था। वह रिकॉर्ड 17 हजार से अधिक मतों से चुनाव जीते। इससे पहले 2012 और 2017 में भी पार्षद रहे हैं। 2017 में दिल्ली गेट वार्ड और 2012 में तुर्कमान गेट से पार्षद बने थे। इस दौरान 2012 में नॉर्थ एमसीडी के सिटी जोन के चैयरमेन रह चुके हैं।
मोहिनी जीनवाल का परिचय
सीएम अरविंद केजरीवाल की कर्मभूमि सुंदर नगरी के वार्ड 218 से मोहिनी जीनवाल पार्षद चुनी गई हैं। दूसरी बार आम आदमी पार्टी के चुनाव चिन्ह पर चुनाव जीती हैं। इससे पहले दिल्ली सफाई कर्मचारी आयोग एवं दिल्ली महिला आयोग की पूर्व सदस्य रही हैं। साथ ही आम आदमी पार्टी की महिला विंग में विधान सभा अध्यक्ष एवं प्रदेश में उपाध्यक्ष रही हैं। पिछले कार्यकाल के दौरान में पूर्वी दिल्ली नगर निगम के सदन में जनता से जुड़े मुद्दों को मुखरता के साथ उठाती रही हैं।
सारिका चौधरी का परिचय
भारतीय दलित सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता सारिका चौधरी दिल्ली महिला आयोग की सदस्य हैं। उनका जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के जालौन जिले में 1987 में एक दलित परिवार में हुआ था। उनके पिता एक दलित काश्तकार किसान हैं। उत्तर प्रदेश से लेकर दिल्ली तक कमजोर तबके के कल्याण के लिए काम कर रही हैं। उन्होंने महंत भागवत विशाल इंटर कॉलेज से शिक्षा प्राप्त की। एमजेपी रोहिलखंड विश्वविद्यालय से एलएलबी और इग्नू से एमएसडब्ल्यू की पढ़ाई पूरी की। उन्होंने वयस्क होने के दौरान उन्होंने गांव में जाति आधारित हिंसा और भेदभाव का सामना किया। कम उम्र में ही सहारा, एलआईसी के लिए काम करना शुरू कर दिया था। इससे होने वाली आय का इस्तेमाल पढ़ाई करने के लिए किया।
उनका राजनीतिक जीवन 2004 में शुरू हुआ। आम आदमी पार्टी से उत्तर प्रदेश के नगीना जिले से 2014 में लोकसभा का चुनाव लड़ा था। वर्तमान में 2015 से दिल्ली महिला आयोग की सक्रिय सदस्य हैं। दिल्ली में अपने-अपने क्षेत्रों में महिला सुरक्षा से संबंधित मुद्दों को हल करने के लिए 2020 में महिला सुरक्षा मित्र की प्रभारी थीं। इसके अलावा आम आदमी पार्टी की महिला विंग की 2014-15 में दिल्ली प्रदेश सचिव और पूर्वी दिल्ली जिला प्रभारी रही हैं। इसके अलावा कालिंदी कॉलेज की 2015-16 में गवर्निंग बॉडी की सदस्य रहीं।
उन्होंने कोविड-19 महामारी के दौरान वंचित परिवारों को पर्याप्त राशन, फेस मास्क और कई अन्य स्वच्छता वस्तुओं की आपूर्ति करने की दिशा में भी काम किया। प्रवासी श्रमिकों के लिए विशेष बसों का आयोजन किया और उन्हें उनके वांछित गंतव्य तक पहुंचने में मदद की।
रमिंदर कौर का परिचय
इंडिया अगेंस्ट करप्शन द्वारा शुरुआती वर्षों में किए गए आंदोलन में सक्रिय रूप से भाग लिया है। उन्होंने रणनीति तैयार करने में मदद की। हरि नगर में नागरिकों के बीच जमीनी स्तर पर संवाद शुरू किया। वह बाद में आम आदमी पार्टी में शामिल हुईं। पश्चिमी दिल्ली में पार्टी के आदर्शों और विजन को बढ़ावा देने में बड़ी भूमिका निभाई सक्रिय सदस्य रही हैं। वह स्कूल प्रबंधन समिति की सदस्य और दीन दयाल उपाध्याय अस्पताल, हरि नगर की मुख्यमंत्री प्रतिनिधि भी रही हैं।
आमिल मलिक का परिचय
आमिल मलिक 2015 से आम आदमी पार्टी से जुड़े हुए हैं। वह आधिकारिक तौर पर 2022 में आम आदमी पार्टी में शामिल हुए। इससे पहले विधानसभा, लोकसभा और निगम चुनावों में पार्टी के लिए काम किया। दिल्ली सरकार के अल्पसंख्यक कमीशन के 2022 में सदस्य बनाए गए। कोरोना के समय में राशन किट वितरित की और लोगों की मदद की। इसके लिए कोरोना योद्धा से आम आदमी पार्टी ने सम्मानित किया।
