The Aam Aadmi Party held a massive protest against BJP’s order to demolish slums in Delhi on Saturday. The party gheraoed BJP Headquarters, supporting the demands of slum dwellers. Leading the protest, AAP Senior Leader and MLA Ms Atishi said, “Before the MCD elections, BJP had promised ‘Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Makaan’ to the slum dwellers of Delhi, not even a month passed since the elections and BJP’s lies have been exposed. BJP-ruled DDA has started putting up demolition notices on slums in different areas of Delhi. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal had built toilets for slum dwellers in Wazirpur, but the BJP bulldozed them too. If BJP does not withdraw this notice, AAP workers and all slum dwellers of Delhi will continue this agitation.” At the same time, AAP Senior Leader and MLA Shri Somnath Bharti said, “BJP’s Delhi Police not only showered water on the slum dwellers in the bitter cold for raising their voice, but also tried to arrest ten-year-old girls.” While, AAP Senior Leader Shri Adil Ahmed Khan said, “As long as CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal is there, BJP does not have the capability to demolish a single slum in Delhi.”
Senior AAP leader and MLA Ms Atishi said, “Today we have all gathered over here as the Bharatiya Janata Party made a false promise to the people in Delhi who live in jhuggis. Before the elections were to take place, the leaders of the BJP campaigned all over Delhi telling those living in the slums that they would be provided a pucca house in the same location – “Jahan jhuggi vahan makaan”. Not even a month had passed since the MCD elections were over and the BJP-ruled DDA started to put out notices at different jhuggis in Delhi threatening to run bulldozers over the houses of the people living there. They did this at the Navjeevan Camp and Nehru Camp in Kalkaji, Ghosia colony in Mehrauli, Tughlakabad and Chattarpur. Hardly a month since the MCD elections and those people who were earlier promising “Jahan jhuggi vahan makaan” are now talking about running a bulldozers at the houses of slum-dwellers.”
She said, “Not only this, in the Wazirpur Vidhan Sabha constituency, there is an area where there are several jhuggis, and Shri Arvind Kejriwal had constructed toilets for the people living here, but 10 days ago the BJP ran a bulldozer over these toilets. Not a single toilet exists over there right now. This is what the BJP believes in doing. The residents of Delhi are now familiar with the politics of the BJP. They started off by putting notices of demolition outside the jhuggis in Navjeevan Camp, Nehru Camp, Ghosia Camp and other camps in Tughlakabad and Chattarpur, and if given an opportunity they will put notices outside every jhuggi in Delhi.”
She added, “But I want to share the message of Shri Arvind Kejriwal with the residents of Delhi. Until every person living in a jhuggi in Delhi does not have a pucca house to live in, we will not let a single jhuggi be demolished in Delhi. Every AAP leader, MLA, councillor will stand in between the jhuggi and the bulldozers of the BJP. It is a promise to the residents of Delhi, that every worker of AAP will fight until their last breath to protect the jhuggis of the people. We will not let even a single person be homeless.”
Ms Atishi said, “But I also have a request to make to the slum-dwellers of Delhi. If we have to win this fight against the BJP, then every slum-dweller will also have to come out and take part in the fight. If we end up just staying inside our houses, then we will not be able to win this fight. I’m very happy to see that so many women and grandmother’s have brought their young children to protest over here. The next time we protest outside the residence of ministers of the BJP, I want the slum-dwellers here to promise me that they will bring more of their family members to take part in the protest.
She concluded, “I also have a message for the Delhi Police. I think they should be ashamed for using water cannons on the poor residents who have gathered here. First the leaders of the BJP make these tall promises to the people here and then when the people find out that it’s a lie and raise their voice against it, the BJP-controlled Delhi Police pushes them back with these water cannons in this cold weather. I want to give the BJP this last warning. Until the DDA takes back it’s notice, the slum-dwellers and the workers of AAP will continue this fight from the streets to the Parliament House.”
AAP MLA Somnath Bharti said, “Today what the BJP has done to the people of Delhi, and these poor sisters and mothers who are protesting over here, it is very shameful. This incident shows how barbaric the Delhi Police can be. They have tried to arrest our daughters who are as young as 10 years. They did not care about how young or how old a person is and attacked everyone with the water cannon in this cold weather. It is quite clear that since losing the MCD elections, the BJP has lost its mental balance. They have mechanically been bringing out notices to demolish the jhuggis of our citizens, and all of these notices have come out after December 7th – the day the results of the MCD elections were announced. This clearly indicates that they are just taking out their frustration since the MCD polls loss.”
He said, “Our leader Shri Arvind Kejriwal has also conducted several press conferences and highlighted to the people that those in the BJP do not believe in the Constitution of India. They do not believe in institutions such as the Supreme Court and the High Court. In Mehrauli, under the pretext of clearing the area around the Mehrauli Archaeological Park, they have brought out eviction notices to make over 10,000 families living in Ghousia colony homeless. Thousands of people will become homeless people in this biting cold and the BJP does not seem to care about it. This is how cruel they all are. I have not seen a political party that can be so cruel to the people of their own country. As soon as the eviction notice was received by the people of Ghosia colony, they brought it to the MLA from the area Shri Naresh Yadav and myself. We took it to Shri Arvind Kejriwal and he asked us to assure every citizen of Mehrauli that nothing will happen to their jhuggis. As long as Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s party is in power we will not let even a single house be bulldozed by the BJP.”
AAP Senior Leader Shri Adil Ahmed Khan said, “Today we have all gathered over here to protest outside the BJP office. Just a few days before the MCD elections were due, the leaders of the BJP promised the residents of several jhuggis in Delhi, “Jahan jhuggi vahan makaan”, but as soon as they lost the elections, they have come out with notices to demolish the jhuggis in Delhi. This is why we call the BJP, Bharatiya Jhooti Party or the Bharatiya Jumla Party. This is such a shameful act and I think the BJP should apologise to the residents of Delhi. But the leaders of the BJP have no remorse.”
He said, “Today when we were protesting and walking towards the BJP headquarters, then the BJP-ruled Delhi Police, that acts like party workers of the BJP, attacked the women who reside in jhuggis so brutally with the water cannons, they also beat up our party workers and detained some of them as well. But I want to tell the BJP that as long as Shri Arvind Kejriwal is the Chief Minister of Delhi and as long as AAP is the ruling party in the state government, we will not let even a single jhuggi be bulldozed.”
He added, “I would also like to remind the personnel of Delhi Police gathered here that they join the forces to protect the people and not attack them. They also get their salaries from the taxes of the citizens. It is shameful the way they have come out today to brutally attack poor residents who have gathered here to protect their jhuggis from being demolished illegally.”
He concluded, “This is the same Delhi Police that failed to act when a daughter of ours was dragged by a car for a distance of 12 kilometres in the Kanjhawala incident. Today when the residents of jhuggis in Delhi have hit the streets to ask for what was promised to them, the Delhi Police attacks them with a water cannon. I want to tell the BJP that they can get more Police forces here if they want, but we are all the soldiers of Shri Arvind Kejriwal and we will not let what is illegal take place in Delhi. We will fight even more strongly for the rights of the people.”

आम आदमी पार्टी ने भाजपा द्वारा दिल्ली की झुग्गियों को तोड़ने का आदेश जारी करने के खिलाफ शनिवार को भाजपा कार्यालय पर जबरदस्त प्रर्दशन किया। आम आदमी पार्टी का कहना है कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने एमसीडी चुनाव से पहले दिल्ली में झुग्गी वालों से ‘जहां झुग्गी वहीं मकान’ का वादा किया था। लेकिन चुनाव के तुरन्त बाद दिल्ली की सभी झुग्गीयों को तोड़ने का आदेश जारी कर दिया है। अरविन्द केजरीवाल जी ने एलान किया है कि हम दिल्ली की झुग्गियों को किसी कीमत पर टूटने नहीं देंगें।
यह प्रदर्शन आप विधायक आतिशी के नेतृत्व में किया गया। इस दौरान आम आदमी पार्टी के पार्षदों और कार्यकर्ताओं ने एलजी और भाजपा के खिलाफ जमकर नारेबाजी की। आम आदमी पार्टी ने बुलडोजर चलाने के नोटिस वापस लेने की मांग की है। आप का कहना है कि अगर भाजपा नोटिस वापस नहीं लेती है तो आप के कार्यकर्ता और दिल्ली के सभी झुग्गी वासी सड़क से लेकर संसद तक इस लड़ाई को लड़ते रहेंगे।
इस दौरान आम आदमी पार्टी की वरिष्ट नेता एवं कालकाजी से विधायक आतिशी ने कहा कि आज हम सब यहां इकट्ठे हुए क्योंकि भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने एमसीडी चुनाव से पहले दिल्ली के झुग्गी वासियों से झूठा वादा किया। चुनाव से पहले भाजपा के नेता दिल्ली की अलग-अलग झुग्गियों में गए और उन्होंने वहां कहा कि जहां पर झुग्गी है वहीं पर मकान देंगे। एमसीडी चुनाव खत्म हुए एक महीना भी नहीं निकला और भाजपा के झूठ का पर्दाफाश हो गया। भाजपा शासित डीडीए ने दिल्ली के अलग-अलग इलाकों की झुग्गियों पर नोटिस लगाने शुरू कर दिए हैं। उन्होंने कालकाजी के नवजीवन कैंप पर नोटिस लगा दिया है। गोविंदपुरी, तुगलकाबाद, छतरपुर आदि में नोटिस लगा दिया है कि झुग्गियों पर बुलडोजर चला देंगे। भाजपा वालों को शर्म आनी चाहिए।
वजीरपुर विधानसभा में जहां पर बड़ी-बड़ी झुग्गियां हैं, वहां पर अरविंद केजरीवाल जी ने झुग्गी वालों के लिए शौचालय बनवाए थे। कुछ दिन पहले उन शौचालयों पर बुलडोजर चला दिया गया। आज वहां पर एक भी शौचालय नहीं बचा यह है। भाजपा का सच आज पूरी दिल्ली वालों ने देख लिया है कि जिस तरह से वजीरपुर, कालकाजी, तुगलकाबाद, छतरपुर की झुग्गियों पर नोटिस लगा दिया है, एक के बाद एक दिल्ली की हर झुग्गी पर भाजपा नोटिस लगाने वाली है। यह है भाजपा की सच्चाई।
मैं आज अरविंद केजरीवाल जी की तरफ से दिल्ली के सभी झुग्गी वासियों से वादा करना चाहती हूं कि जब तक दिल्ली के झुग्गी वासियों को मकान नहीं मिल जाता तब तक अरविंद केजरीवाल, उनके विधायक, उनके पार्षद, एक-एक कार्यकर्ता, एक भी झुग्गी पर बुलडोजर नहीं चलने देंगे। केजरीवाल के सिपाहियों में जान है। हम दिल्ली के झुग्गी वालों की लड़ाई आखरी सांस तक लड़ते रहेंगे। यह मेरा दिल्ली की झुग्गी वासियों से वादा है।
लेकिन मैं दिल्ली के झुग्गी वासियों से एक अपील भी करना चाहूंगी। अगर हमें अपनी झुग्गी बचानी है तो हमें एक होकर इस लड़ाई को लड़ना पड़ेगा। अगर हम अपने घरों में बैठे रहेंगे तो इस लड़ाई को जीत नहीं पाएंगे। आज मैं दिल्ली पुलिस को भी कहना चाहूंगी कि थोड़ी शर्म करो। यह गरीब लोग जब अपने हक की लड़ाई लड़ने आते हैं तो इतनी बर्बरता से इतनी ठंड में उन पर वाटर कैनन चलाया जाता है। मैं भाजपा को यह आखरी चेतावनी दे रही हूं कि अगर आप नोटिस वापस नहीं लेते हैं तो आम आदमी पार्टी के कार्यकर्ता और दिल्ली के सभी झुग्गी वासी सड़क से लेकर संसद तक इस लड़ाई को लड़ते रहेंगे।
वहीं आप विधायक सोमनाथ भारती ने कहा कि मैं देख रहा था कि दिल्ली पुलिस की बर्बरता कहां तक जा सकती है। दस-दस साल की बच्चियों को इन्होंने गिरफ्तार करने की कोशिश की। इतनी ठंड में उनपर पानी की बौछार की। इनकी यह हरकत शर्मसार कर देने वाली है। एमसीडी चुनाव में हार की हताशा के कारण भाजपा अपना मानसिक संतुलन खो बैठी है। चुनाव हारने के बाद नोटिस पर नोटिस विध्वंस पर विध्वंस हर तरफ करने का प्रयत्न कर रही है। भाजपा के लिए ना तो सुप्रीम कोर्ट है, ना हाईकोर्ट है और ना ही संविधान की कोई मान्यता है। महरौली आर्कियोलॉजिकल पार्क के नाम पर 10,000 से ज्यादा झुग्गी और उससे भी ज्यादा करीब करीब एक लाख झुग्गियों को तोड़ने की इन्होंने ठानी है। इससे शर्मसार करने वाली बात क्या हो सकती है? हम जैसे ही यह बात केजरीवाल जी के संज्ञान में लेकर आए तो उन्होंने तुरंत कहा कि सभी लोगों को बता दो कि अरविंद केजरीवाल हर वक्त उनके साथ खड़े हैं।
आप नेता आदिल अहमद खान ने कहा कि भाजपा ने चुनाव से पहले झुग्गी वासियों से जहां झुग्गी वहां मकान का वादा किया था। चुनाव के तुरंत बाद भाजपा ने झुग्गियों पर नोटिस लगा दिए कि उन्हें तोड़ा जाएगा। यह निहायती शर्मनाक है। और मुझे लगता है कि भाजपा को इस पर झुग्गी वासियों से माफी मांगनी चाहिए। लेकिन हद तो तब हो गई जब भाजपा शासित दिल्ली पुलिस ने झुग्गी की महिलाओं के साथ बर्बरता की। आईपीएस अधिकारी, जो संविधान की कसम खाते हैं, उन्होंने हमारे कार्यकर्ताओं को पीटा और हमारे कार्यकर्ताओं को गिरफ्तार किया। मैं भाजपा को कहना चाहता हूं कि जब तक अरविंद केजरीवाल जी हैं, जब तक आम आदमी पार्टी है, तब तक तुम्हारी औकात नहीं कि तुम दिल्ली की झुग्गियों को तोड़ सको। लेकिन मैं दिल्ली पुलिस को यह कहना चाहता हूं जिस प्रकार से दिल्ली पुलिस ने झुग्गी वासियों के साथ बदसलूकी की है, मुझे लगता है कि यह उससे भी शर्मनाक है।
