Delhi Water Minister Atishi’s unwavering dedication to the people of Delhi has embarked on the fourth day of her indefinite hunger strike. Driven by a deep sense of duty, she remains resolute despite her deteriorating health. In an emotional message to the citizens, Minister Atishi vowed that no matter how bad her health is, no matter how much pain her body is in, her resolve to hunger strike is firm. Her commitment to ensuring that 28 lakh Delhiites receive their rightful share of water from the Haryana government stands unshaken, highlighting her profound sacrifice and determination.
In her message, Delhi Water Minister Atishi said, “Today is the fourth day of my indefinite hunger strike. I am on this hunger strike because there is a huge shortage of water in Delhi. Delhi does not have its own water, all the water here comes from neighboring states. But for the last 3 weeks, Haryana has reduced sending water to Delhi. The Haryana government has been giving 100 MGD less water to Delhi for the last 3 weeks.”
The Delhi Water Minister continued, stating, “100 MGD water means 46 crore litres of water. This 46 crore litres of water is used by 28 lakh people in a day. But due to lack of adequate water, today 28 lakh Delhiites are yearning for every drop of water. My indefinite hunger strike will continue until the thirst of these 28 lakh Delhiites is quenched until the Haryana government does not release the water that is the right of these 28 lakh Delhiites.”
She shared, “Yesterday the doctor came and examined me. The doctors told me that my blood pressure is decreasing, my sugar level is decreasing, and my weight is decreasing. The ketone level has also increased a lot. The doctors have advised that such an increase in ketone level is dangerous and can have a long-term bad effect on the body. It can harm my health.”
“No matter how bad my health is, no matter how much pain my body is in, my resolve to hunger strike is strong and until 28 lakh Delhiites do not get water, my indefinite hunger strike will continue,” Minister Atishi concluded her message.
