Delhi Water Minister Atishi has embarked on an indefinite hunger strike, a desperate measure to secure the rightful water supply for 28 lakh Delhiites from neighboring Haryana. On Saturday, as her hunger strike entered its second day, a team of doctors checked her health, revealing the personal toll of her relentless fight. This steadfast stand is about securing water for Delhiites by putting herself front in the line.
During the health check-up on the second day of the hunger strike, doctors recorded a drop in Water Minister Atishi’s blood pressure and sugar levels. Due to not eating anything, her weight has also decreased. The way Minister Atishi’s sugar level has dropped by 16 units on the second day as compared to the first day of the fast, doctors have termed it dangerous. According to doctors, if the fast continues, the amount of ketone in her body may increase in the coming days, which will be dangerous.
Ms. Atishi, who is fighting for Delhi’s right to water, says that no matter how much trouble she has to face, she will continue her fast until Delhiites get their rightful water.
