Delhi Food and Civil Supplies (F&S) Minister and Ballimaran MLA Shri Imran Hussain visited the Marwari Katra Area at Nai Sarak where more than 50 small and big shops were gutted in the fire due to the unfortunate incident of a massive fire blaze on Thursday evening. The minister met the traders whose shops were gutted down due to the unfortunate incident of a massive fire blaze. The minister first consoled them and inquired into the cause of the fire. Fortunately, no casualty has been reported in the fire incident.

Shri Imran Hussain instructed area SDM for special care and adequate support to the victims in the hour of suffering. The Minister also acknowledged the role of DDMA, Delhi Police, and especially fire brigade personnel as relief and rescue operations faced difficulties considering the dense population and narrow lanes in the area.

While assuring the traders, the minister said that the Kejriwal government stands with the traders in the hour of crisis and that the government will explore all possible support in the restoration of the market. The minister instructed the area SDM to assess the damage caused by the fire and submit the report before the Delhi Government.

The minister added that over 80 fire tenders and 200 firefighter personnel worked throughout the night to control a massive fire that damaged over 50 shops in the densely packed Marwari Katra in the Chandni Chowk area. Firefighters faced significant challenges in extinguishing the flames due to the interconnected nature of the shops within the narrow lanes of the Katra Marwadi market where uninterrupted cooling operations are presently going on.
