Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) National Convenor and Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal held a series of roadshows and a town hall meeting in Punjab on Wednesday to support AAP Lok Sabha candidates. After meeting with traders, the AAP Supremo led roadshows in Muktsar, Mandi Gobindgarh, and Chandigarh, garnering significant public support. He urged voters to elect an educated Prime Minister who understands and addresses public issues, criticizing the current government for inflation and unemployment. Highlighting AAP’s achievements in Punjab, Shri Arvind Kejriwal noted that in just two years, the AAP government has provided 50,000 government jobs, free electricity, and free healthcare.
While addressing Traders’ Town Hall in Jalandhar, Punjab, AAP National Convenor and Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that traders, businesspersons and industrialists are the backbone of Punjab’s economy. Punjab’s AAP government respects you (traders) people a lot. We acknowledge your contribution. Once Modi ji had said that commission agents are ‘dalaal’ (middlemen). Many governments believe that traders are thieves. We do not believe so. Traders, industrialists, businesspersons, shopkeepers are the backbone of any economy.
The AAP Supremo continued, stating, “In the elections, leaders of other parties are busy holding big rallies, road shows and meetings. But along with meetings, I meet traders and industrialists first every day. Businesspersons, industrialists provide employment to the youth, pay taxes to the government and the country and the state run on that. We have come among you many times in the last 2 years. Last year, I and CM Bhagwant Mann came among you with all the officers. Many of the works that you got written down have been completed, many works are going on and some works are yet to be done. Work is going on, on that. If you had written 100 works at that time, then today 100 more works would have come. This relationship that we have formed with you people will last a lifetime.”
He further added, “You people made us win with a huge majority 2 years ago. Till date in the history of Punjab, the people of Punjab have not given 92 out of 117 seats to any party. We consider ourselves very fortunate that we have received so much love and trust from you people. In the last 2 years, you must have seen that we initiated many works, completed many works, but in 75 years, the condition of all sectors of Punjab was bad, whether it was electricity, roads, water, schools, hospitals, everything was bad. These parties were looting before us. Now there is a change in that, things are getting better. Electricity in people’s homes has become free. The governments before us used to give excuses that everything is running in loss, there is no money.”
Shri Arvind Kejriwal mentioned that these people have looted so much, but still we saved money and ended corruption and made your electricity free. Now Mohalla Clinics are being built. In which everyone is getting free medicines and treatment. Mohalla Clinics have been built at many places and are still being built at many places. Similarly, schools have started improving. We are making government schools excellent. Many schools have been fixed. There are 20,000 government schools in Punjab. It will take some time, but we will fix all of them. We have started giving jobs to children. About 50,000 children have got government jobs. This is not a small thing within 2 years. The biggest thing is that till now one had to give bribes for government jobs and they used to give it to their own people. For the first time, poor children who were entitled to jobs on the basis of merit have got jobs. This is happening for the first time in Punjab. The children who used to climb on tanks have been made permanent employees.
The AAP National Convenor stated, “Today I have come to ask something from the people of Punjab. This is an election to form a government at the centre. There are 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab. If you give 3 seats to that party, 4 seats to another party and 2 seats to this party, then it will be a mess and things will not work out. Give these 13 seats to the AAP, just like you gave 92 seats out of 117. Today the central government has unleashed ‘goondagardi’ (hooliganism) in the entire country. They break the government of whoever they want. 2-3 days ago Amit Shah came to Ludhiana, and threatened that the government that the people of Punjab have elected and formed, will be finished after June 4. Your Bhagwant Mann will be removed from the post of Chief Minister. This is hooliganism.
“Till date the country has not seen any such Home Minister who is going to any state and openly threatening that after June 4 I will topple your government. How will you topple it? We have been given 92 seats out of 117. It is a blessing that you people have given us 92 seats, if you had given us 60, they would have been defeated by now. You gave us 92 seats, yet they have the guts to leave after threatening. I want to tell Amit Shah that Punjabis are big hearted people. If you had asked with love, they could have given us 1-2 seats. But this threat will not work in front of Punjabis. You have challenged 3 crore Punjabis. Now on June 1, these 3 crore Punjabis will give BJP a hard time,” he affirmed.
The AAP chief conveyed, you gave us 92 seats out of 117. That is why today our hands have become stronger. We are able to work strongly. Give us these 13 seats, our strength will increase to fight the Central Government against its hooliganism. We will bring your rights. The Punjab Government has coal mines in Odisha. These mines were closed before our government. Our government has reopened them and started extracting coal. We have now started using our own coal in our thermal plant. “We had to bring that coal from Odisha to Punjab, for which the shortest route is by train. The Central Government issued an order that the coal will first go to Sri Lanka from Odisha, then from there it will go to Kandla Port in Gujarat and from Gujarat to Punjab. CM Bhagwant Mann fought and got that route canceled. If that route had remained, your electricity would have become ₹2 per unit more expensive. I know that all of you businesspersons demand that we have made electricity cheaper for homes, now make electricity cheaper for industry and business as well. We will do that too,” he added.
“Today Sardar Bhagwant Mann is fighting alone. But how many times will a single man fight? With how many people will he fight? Every day the Governor stops some or the other bill and does not sign it. If you give us 13 out of 13 MPs, these 13 MPs will become Sardar Bhagwant Mann’s 13 hands to fight the central government. Next time, if the central government does something, these 13 MPs will sit in that minister’s house and will not come out until he signs the file. Pawan Kumar Tinu will fight for your rights. Ours is a movement-oriented party, a revolutionary party. You people do not have to divide the seats among different parties, you have to give all 13 seats to the Aam Aadmi Party,” he stated.
The Chief Minister of Delhi further questioned if you have ever seen any MP elected in the last 5-10 years raising the voice of Punjab in the Lok Sabha? You send these people as MPs but as soon as they go to the Lok Sabha, these people start doing their own settings. Someone is making a deal with this minister; someone is making a deal with that party. All the people go to the Lok Sabha for their own business. All our 13 MPs will work for you, Sardar Bhagwant Mann and I will keep an eye on them, he stated.
Shri Arvind Kejriwal said they have created complete high-handedness throughout the country. They arrested me, they say that Kejriwal is corrupt, but people say that if Kejriwal is corrupt then nobody is honest in this world. They said that Kejriwal has committed a scam of ₹100 crores, Kejriwal took a bribe of ₹100 crores. I asked them that if I took a bribe of ₹100 crores, you will get it somewhere, right? These people raided 500 places, but did not get a single new penny. Did ₹100 crores disappear into thin air? They did not find any cash, neither in the locker nor in the bank, they did not find any gold, nothing at all.
Now you must have seen that Rajat Sharma of India TV interviewed the Prime Minister, in a show called ‘Aap ki Adalat’. In that interview he asked the Prime Minister that Kejriwal is saying that you have no proof against him, there is no recovery. In front of the whole country, the Prime Minister said that we do not have proof and recovery because Kejriwal is an ‘Anubhavi Chor’ (experienced thief). The Prime Minister himself is admitting in front of the entire country that this entire case is fake, he has no proof. Then why was I arrested?
The AAP National Convenor said the Election Commission declared the elections on 16 March and they arrested me on 21 March. They did not want me to campaign for the elections, they were afraid that if I roam around the country then Shri Narendra Modi will end up losing 10-15 seats, so they arrested me. Thanks to the Supreme Court that it gave me interim bail to campaign for the elections. The apex court gave me 21 days’ time and I am here amongst you people. Look at the extent of their arrogance.
The AAP supremo said Shri Narendra Modi has given various interviews in the last few days. In these interviews, he is saying that ‘I did not come from my mother’s womb, I have appeared on this earth.’ How many of you believe that Shri Narendra Modi is an incarnation of God? What has happened to these people? Dr. Sambit Patra is saying that ‘Lord Jagannath is Modi’s Bhakt.’ Shri J. P. Nadda is saying that ‘Narendra Modi Devtaon Ke Bhi Devta Hain’ (Narendra Modi is the God of the Gods).
There is so much inflation and unemployment in the country, but these people are not concerned about it. It is becoming difficult for the public to run their household, but these people are not worried about it. These people are lost in their own world, they are saying that Modi is an incarnation of God. We believe in Lord Shri Ramchandra, Lord Shri Krishna, Lord Shri Hanuman, Lord Shiva, Waheguru, but we cannot accept Shri Narendra Modi as God.
“People are suffering so much due to inflation, the prices of petrol, diesel, household items, food and everything else have skyrocketed. Youths are sitting at home after completing their degree because there are no jobs. People think that our Prime Minister will give us some solution. But when you see his interviews, he is making absurd statements that if you make the INDIA alliance win, they will snatch your buffaloes, your taps, your Mangalsutras, and what not. What sense does this make? Does God talk like this? What has happened to the Prime Minister of our country? What kind of statements is he making?” he stated.
Shri Arvind Kejriwal stated that the Prime Minister went to Mumbai and said that Shri Uddhav Thackeray is the ‘Nakli Santan’ (fake son) of his father (Shri Balasaheb Thackeray), he said that Shri Sharad Pawar is a ‘Bhatakti Atma’ (wandering soul). Are they asking for votes for this? Prime Minister, you should tell us how you will regulate petrol and diesel prices? Then the public would have voted for you. The public is suffering and you are saying that I am God. I don’t know what has happened to him. We don’t want such a Prime Minister. Elect an educated person as your Prime Minister this time. Save the country, this election is to save the country, he stated.
They were repeatedly saying ‘400 Paar-400 Paar’, when people asked them what will you do with 400 seats, the government can be run even with 300 seats. The National Convenor of the AAP expressed gratitude to the businessmen and appealed to the traders and said that I know that there are 10,000 votes behind each person sitting here. You should definitely cast your vote, but also get all your acquaintances and people of your association to vote, he concluded.
At the same time, during the road show in Sri Muktsar Sahib, Mandi Gobindgarh and Chandigarh, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that you strengthened our hands by giving us 92 out of 117 seats in the Vidhan Sabha. If you give these 13 MPs, then these MPs will go and sit in Modi ji’s house. They will not come out until he gives you your rightful money. Three days ago, Amit Shah has threatened the people of Punjab that he will topple their elected government. But tell me how will you do this? Will you buy the Punjabis or will you scare them. How did he dare to come to Punjab and threaten them?
At the roadshow in Mandi, Gobindgarh and Chandigarh, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that the Supreme Court has given me 21 days. I am very thankful to them. Now these BJP people have to be taught a lesson. These people have created dictatorship and high-handedness in the country. They arrested me in Delhi, arrested Shri Hemant Soren in Jharkhand. Now they are threatening that they will remove Sardar Bhagwant Mann from Punjab. Is this their father’s country? This is a country of 140 crore people. They are scaring people.
“We are disciples of Bhagat Singh. We are not going to be scared of them. Bhagat Singh went to jail to free the country and was hanged. We go to jail to save the country. They want to scare us of jail. Kejriwal is not going to be scared of jail. No power in the world can silence me, I will always raise my voice against their atrocities,” he asserted.
