All seven BJP MPs have been found to be good for nothing in terms of their work within Delhi. Senior AAP leader Shri Jasmine Shah exposed the BJP MPs through data obtained from the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation Department of the Central Government and said that all seven MPs had received Rs 124 crore under the MP Fund in the last 5 years and they could not spend more than 66%of the budget. In this way, they wasted Rs 81 crore. Out of Rs 124 crore, BJP MP Dr. Harsh Vardhan has spent Rs 7.5 crore, Gautam Gambhir, Manoj Tiwari, Ramesh Bidhuri and Meenakshi Lekhi have spent Rs 7 each, while Pravesh Verma and Hansraj Hans have spent only Rs 5 crore each. These Rs 81 crore could have been used for CCTV, law and order, roads and drains. That is why even after two months of the announcement of elections, the BJP is not able to tell the work of its MPs among the public and is only misleading the people by doing Hindu-Muslim, Mangalsutra. At the same time, only the Aam Aadmi Party does politics of work in the country. We always say that if we have worked, vote for us.
Shri Jasmine Shah said the unutilised funds of Rs 81 crore could have been used for the development of Delhi. That is why even after two months of the announcement of elections, the BJP is not able to give account of the work done by its MPs to the public and is only misleading the people by doing Hindu-Muslim, Mangalsutra.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Shri Jasmine Shah stated that the Aam Aadmi Party and Shri Arvind Kejriwal are known for their politics of work. Whenever elections are held in this country and we have to ask for votes, we ask for votes by saying that if we have worked, then vote for us. If we have not done any work, then you can undoubtedly choose not to vote for us. The Aam Aadmi Party is the only party in this country which seeks votes based on its work. It’s been over two months since the Lok Sabha elections were announced on March 15. Elections in Delhi are scheduled on May 25, it’s been over 2 months of campaigning and the BJP has not once told that in the last 10 years of its tenure, when the people of Delhi chose the MPs of the BJP with a huge majority, what work did these 7 MPs do for the people of Delhi in the last 10 years?
“For the past 2 months, the BJP has only been diverting people’s attention by abusing people, talking about irrelevant issues, Hindu-Muslim, Mangalsutra, cow-buffalo, and what not. But the BJP is unable to tell what work their 7 MPs have done for the people of Delhi in the last 10 years. I believe that it is clear that they’re unable to talk about it because they have not done any work. They have not done any work that is why they have changed 6 out of their 7 MPs. Even if they talk about it, what are they going to say? Think for yourself, what have they done for you? Have these BJP MPs built even a single government school? Have they built even one Mohalla clinic or hospital? They get a lot of money from the government budget. But the BJP has completely failed to mention even a single work that they did for the people of Delhi.”
Shri Jasmine Shah said on the other hand, maintaining law and order is the biggest responsibility of the central government and Delhi Police towards the people of Delhi. You can look at the situation of Delhi. Today you can go anywhere in Delhi, the biggest complaint of people is that the crime rate is rapidly increasing in Delhi. The cases of robbery and murders are increasing day by day. Delhi has become the crime capital of the country, but the BJP is silent about it, all their MPs are silent about it.
Giving details of the failure of the BJP MPs in the development of Delhi, the senior AAP leader said today I will share some figures with you which will shock you and prove to you that the BJP has given such MPs to Delhi who have not done any work for Delhi. You must be aware about the MP LAD Scheme (Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme). As per this scheme, every year every Lok Sabha MP gets crores of rupees to spend on the people of Delhi. This is not their money; this is not a favour that they’re doing on people. It is the right of the people of Delhi that their elected MPs can use whatever budget they want to solve the problems of the people. With the budget, they can make schools, clinics, roads, or sewage system, he said.
Quoting the data obtained from the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Shri Jasmine Shah stated that I would like to present before you these figures of the last 5 years. A total amount of Rs 124 crore was sanctioned to the 7 MPs of the BJP under the MP LAD Scheme between 2019 and 2024. Out of this budget of Rs 124 crore, the BJP MPs did not spend Rs 81 crore, which amounts to 66% of the total budget. The seven MPs of the BJP wasted two-thirds of the total money.
“All the 7 MPs are included in this; it is not like any one of them has a good track record. Dr. Harsh Vardhan, BJP’s MP from Chandni Chowk, had a budget of Rs 22 crore in the last 5 years to work for the development of his area. How much did he spend? He spent only Rs 7.5 crore. Similarly, Shri Gautam Gambhir, MP from East Delhi, had a budget of Rs 17 crore, out of which he spent only Rs 7 crore. Shri Manoj Tiwari, who has again been given a ticket by the BJP from North East Delhi, had a budget of Rs 17 crore, out of which he spent only Rs 7 crore. I wonder on what basis has he been fielded again. Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh, MP from West Delhi, and Shri Raj Hans, MP from North West Delhi (SC), also spent merely Rs 5 crore each out of their respective budgets of Rs 17 crore each. Shri Ramesh Bidhuri, MP from South Delhi, and Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, MP from New Delhi and Union Minister, also spent only Rs 7 crore each out of their allotted budgets of Rs 17 crore each.”
He said that out of the total MP LAD budget of Rs 124 crore, Rs 81 crore remained unutilised. You can understand what kind of work could have been done for public with a budget of Rs 81 crore. How many clinics could have been opened, how many CCTV cameras could have been installed, law and order could have been maintained, the work of roads and sewage could have been done. I don’t think such slackers and useless MPs would be found anywhere in Delhi or in the entire country.
Shri Jasmine Shah said now I will put another record in front of you which will leave you shocked. The 7 BJP MPs have utilised only 33% of the total budget, this is a new record of low. This is the record of lowest level of fund utilisation in the country. We have also collected the figures from BJP ruled states, its not like their MPs in the other states have done excellent work and spent 90-100% of their budget, but if you compare, the situation is still better than that of Delhi. In Gujarat, the BJP MPs spent 50% of the budget. They have also wasted the remaining half thinking that what is the need to work, people are voting for us anyway. BJP MPs from Rajasthan and Haryana also used just 43% and 46% of the budget, respectively.
Shri Jasmine Shah stated that looking at the situation in Delhi, I am reminded of a phrase in English ‘Race to the Bottom’, and in this race, all the 7 BJP MPs have topped from the bottom. This is BJP’s message to the people of Delhi that they have decided that they will not do any work for the people of Delhi. They don’t care whether the people of Delhi live or die, they won’t do anything for them. Even if they get budget of Rs 124 crore, they will happily waste it but not do any work for Delhiites. They will not make governments schools or hospital or install CCTV cameras like Shri Arvind Kejriwal. They are anyway getting votes, what is the need to work, they will keep enjoying in their government cars and bungalows.
“It is very important for the people of Delhi to understand these statistics so that they realise that the BJP’s MPs will never be theirs. If you make them win again, they will only enjoy their lives, abuse others, level preposterous charges, but the only ones who will work for you are Shri Arvind Kejriwal and his MPs,” he concluded
