In a show of solidarity between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress, AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal held road shows in Model Town and Jahangirpuri to campaign for three INDIA alliance candidates fielded by the Congress in Delhi.
The Congress has fielded Kanhaiya Kumar from the North East Delhi, Jai Prakash Agarwal from Chandni Chowk and Udit Raj from North West Delhi under the INDIA alliance.
Thousands of volunteers waving flags of AAP and the Congress and buntings of both the parties with their election symbols hanging across the roads along the routes of the road shows was a treat to the eyes.
AAP National Convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal and the Congress candidates could be seen waving back at the thousands of locals who had assembled on both sides of the roads as well as those who greeted him from their balconies and rooftops.
Addressing the crowd gathered at the road show in Model Town, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said I am coming to you straight from jail. These people put me in jail. I missed you guys a lot when I was in jail. I love you guys a lot and I know you love me too. I am a small man, they put me in jail. I was wondering what my mistake was, why was I put in jail. I am a small man; our party is small. It is in two states: Delhi and Punjab.
He said they (BJP) are such big people, so powerful. I was wondering why did they put me in jail? What is my fault? My fault is that I arranged good education for your children, built good schools for your children, my fault is that I made the future of your children. My fault is that earlier there used to be power cuts for 10 hours in Delhi, I have arranged 24 hours electricity for you. My fault is that I arranged free electricity for you. My fault is that I opened Mohalla Clinics for you near every house. Made your medicines free, made treatment free for all the people of entire Delhi. “And look at the irony, when I went to Tihar, they did not give me diabetes medicine for 15 days. I am a sugar patient. For the last 20 years, I have been suffering from severe diabetes. For the last 10 years, I am on insulin. I am given 52 units of insulin daily. When I went to Tihar, they stopped my insulin injection for 15 days. My sugar level reached above 300, sometimes 350. If a person’s sugar remains high for a long time, his liver and kidneys get damaged. I don’t know what they want from me. They tried their best to break me inside the jail, but by the grace of Bajrangbali, Kejriwal did not break,” said the AAP National Convenor.
Seeking votes for the INDIA alliance candidate Shri Jai Prakash Agarwal, the Delhi Chief Minister said now these people are saying that Kejriwal will have to go to jail again. “It is in your hands whether I will go to jail or not. If you press the lotus button on May 25, I will have to go to jail and if you press the ‘hand’ (Congress election symbol) button, I will not have to go to jail. Let me clarify here that we have an INDIA alliance in Delhi. There is an alliance between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party. Jai Prakash Agarwal ji has stood from Chandni Chowk in this Lok Sabha constituency. Jai Prakash Agarwal ji’s ‘hand’ button is at serial number 2 on the EVM. Clarifying to the voters, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that you will not find the ‘broom’ (AAP election symbol) button on the EVM. I should also tell the AAP people that they have to press the button on the ‘hand’ button,” he said.
Making appeal to the voters to elect the INDIA alliance candidates from Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “So, if all of you make INDIA alliance candidate Jai Prakash ji win, then I will not have to go to jail and if you make lotus (BJP election symbol) win, then Kejriwal will go to jail. When you go to press the button on election day, think about whether to send Kejriwal to jail or not,” he said.
The AAP supremo asked the public at the road show, “Who all love me?” The public unanimously answered in the affirmative by raising their hands, “We love you.”
Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “Those who love Kejriwal should reject Modi.”
During the road show in Jahangirpuri, the Delhi Chief Minister said that I built excellent schools for your children. I built 500 schools in Delhi, so the Prime Minister should have built 5000 schools in the entire country. That would have been his greatness. But they are saying that Arvind Kejriwal built 500 schools, they will not let him build more schools, send him to jail. This is a wrong thing. This does not lead to progress of the country. You would have been great if you had provided 24 hours electricity to the entire country. I made electricity free in Delhi and Punjab. Actually, these people want to stop all the work in Delhi. They are saying that you will have to go to jail again. If on May 25 you press the button for the INDIA alliance candidate, I will not need to go to jail, but if you press the lotus button, I will have to go to jail. All the seats in Delhi should come to INDIA alliance.
Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that Modi ji’s government is not being formed on June 4. This is not a bogus claim. I have spoken to many people across the country. Made calls in Karnataka, Bihar, UP. Their seats are decreasing in Rajasthan, 10 seats are decreasing in Karnataka, Maharashtra, UP, they are decreasing in Bihar, they are decreasing in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Punjab. They are going to be eliminated from Delhi. Then how is their government being formed? “INDIA alliance government is being formed on June 4. We will take the country towards progress and end this dictatorship. These people want to change the constitution. These people had very dangerous plans in their mind. They had made very dirty plans. They are repeatedly saying of crossing 400 mark. These people were not telling why 400 seats were needed. They were saying that Modi ji will do great things. When inquired, information came out that they would end the reservation. They need 400 seats to end reservation for OBC, SC and ST. Today, they are unable to get even 250 seats,” he said.
The AAP National Convenor said that our country is a great country. They want to destroy our country. Baba Saheb Ambedkar had framed a wonderful constitution. These people want to abolish that constitution. Today it is your responsibility to save it. Kejriwal is a very small man. It doesn’t matter whether I go to jail or not. But what matters is that the Constitution of this country should be saved. “It is the responsibility of each one of you to save it. Everyone must go to vote. There is a lot of heat, but voting is the biggest patriotic act. This election is not an ordinary election. Even if they win this election by any mistake, there will be no next election in the country. Then elections will stop in the country. Then dictatorship will come in the country,” he cautioned.
