AAP’s legal cell staged a powerful protest against the unjust arrest of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal by forming a human chain in Connaught Place. Led by INDIA Alliance candidate Shri Somnath Bharti and AAP legal cell state president Shri Sanjeev Nasiar, the event drew participation from numerous lawyers across Delhi. Shri Somnath Bharti condemned the arrest, labeling it as evidence of a dictatorial atmosphere in Delhi and the nation. Asserting the election’s significance in safeguarding democracy, he declared that Delhiites would respond to injustice with their votes, aiming to dismantle the oppressive regime.
During the human chain demonstrating, AAP and INDIA Alliance candidate Shri Shri Somnath Bharti said, “We are trying to convey to the public that the way BJP has adopted an undemocratic attitude and unconstitutionally picked up Shri Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in the dark of the night after the announcement of elections without any evidence, is proof of the fact that an entire atmosphere of dictatorship has been created in Delhi and the country. Today our lawyer colleagues have come out to protest against the arrest of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal. We will convey this message to every household that this time the election is to save the constitution, democracy and the country. We demonstrated peacefully on this issue. We are Gandhian people, we are not ‘Godseists’. Godseists adopt the path of violence. They adopt the path of ED and want to create an atmosphere of fear. Whereas a Gandhian person stands with folded hands.”
The INDIA Alliance candidate from the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat said Shri Arvind Kejriwal is the first leader of India who said that if we have worked then vote for us, if we have not worked then don’t vote for us. No other leader has this much courage. Only a Gandhian can have this much courage. That is why we are saying in a Gandhian way that BJP has misused ED by adopting a dictatorial attitude. It has made ED a means of extortion. They first raided the companies, then recovered money and then closed the case. Even the biggest corrupt person enters the washing machine of BJP and comes out clean and becomes Deputy CM, CM and MP in BJP.
“We have come to request the public to show such a dictatorial government its way. On 25th May, Delhi will vote for the Lok Sabha elections. The people of Delhi will make INDIA Alliance candidates win on all seven seats, and will tell this dictatorial government with the power of their votes that now your days are over, now you go. ‘Achche Din’ (Good days) are indeed about to come, Modi ji is going to go,” he added.
During this, AAP Delhi Legal cell President Shri Sanjeev Nasiar said that on the call of Aam Aadmi Party’s legal cell, hundreds of lawyers participated in the human chain program in Connaught Place. The illegal manner in which ED arrested an elected Chief Minister in the dark of the night and the kind of torture he is being given in jail after the arrest, he was not given insulin. We had to go to the court for his medicine. His wife is not being allowed to meet him. Against this atrocity, today every lawyer has come to Connaught Place to call upon the people of the country and Delhi that we have to answer the jail with votes. We have to uproot this arrogant power from the country. The lawyers will continue their fight on the streets and in the court to save the democracy and constitution of the country.
