In a significant development ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its decision not to field any candidates in the state. Instead, it will throw its weight behind the candidates from the constituent parties of the INDIA alliance, namely the Samajwadi Party and the Congress. This announcement came during a joint press conference held by Senior AAP leader Shri Sanjay Singh with the National President of the Samajwadi Party Shri Akhilesh Yadav. The leaders emphasized their unconditional support for the alliance, stressing that the upcoming election is pivotal for safeguarding the nation’s democracy and constitution while curbing authoritarian tendencies.
The constituent parties of the INDIA alliance, the AAP and the Samajwadi Party, held the joint press conference on Friday to express their stand on the Lok Sabha elections. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh stated that Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, who has been elected with a resounding majority three times consecutively, has been put in jail. The head of the Samajwadi Party arrived in Delhi in support of Shri Arvind Kejriwal and addressed the mega rally of the INDIA alliance at Ramlila Ground. Even today, Shri Akhilesh Yadav spoke to Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Smt. Sunita Kejriwal, over the phone to inquire about his well-being.
Shri Sanjay Singh further stated that the BJP has also initiated ‘Operation Lotus’ in Delhi. Our minister Raaj Kumar Anand’s factory was raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) first, and later pressure was exerted on him to resign.
“The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are not just ordinary elections, but they are a choice to save India’s democracy, Babasaheb Ambedkar’s constitution, and the rights of the marginalized, oppressed, and deprived people who are being robbed, to save youth from the quagmire of unemployment, to protect the common man from inflation. The 2024 elections are also a choice for the people of the country to restrain the authoritarian government,” he added.
The AAP Rajya Sabha MP affirmed that the INDIA Alliance will win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Wherever there are candidates from the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, each worker and elected representative of the AAP will work to ensure victory for the INDIA alliance candidate. This is a significant fight. This fight is to save democracy and end dictatorship. No politician adopts such tactics if they are winning elections, as PM Narendra Modi is doing. If Modi Ji is filing false cases against opposition leaders, putting them in jail, it means he lacks confidence in his victory. If he had confidence, he wouldn’t take such actions during elections.
“The AAP is not contesting elections in Uttar Pradesh and will not field its candidates. The AAP is not demanding any seats from the constituent parties of the INDIA alliance, such as the Samajwadi Party and the Congress; instead, we are all unconditionally united to save democracy, end dictatorship, and protect the Constitution of India,” Shri Sanjay Singh mentioned.
At the same time, the National President of Samajwadi Party Shri Akhilesh Yadav said that the elected representatives and all the workers of the Aam Aadmi Party are supporting the Samajwadi Party workers in this big battle of Lok Sabha elections. This time, the Lok Sabha elections are not being held under normal circumstances. The entire country and the world are keeping an eye on the Lok Sabha elections being held in India. There was a mega rally in Delhi in support of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal. I also went to that rally; I had said that India has been defamed throughout the world. It Is being discussed about India that this is happening with elected people and the head of some state. The BJP is also interfering in the institutions of India, the institutions which are supposed to serve justice to people. We used to see this in the Pradhan level elections. But the elected Chief Minister of any state has not been treated in such a way that he is sent to jail on false charges.
He further stated that just like Delhi, Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren was also sent to jail. The whole country knows that the BJP formed its government in Maharashtra with the help of these institutions. They extorted money from these institutions by threatening people, now they are using the police to force people to join their party. Many leaders who have joined the BJP have said that “We are joining the BJP physically, but our souls are with you.” The BJP people are threatening the opposition leaders to switch to the BJP. Therefore, we are getting full support from the Aam Aadmi Party to save the democracy and the constitution of the country and to save India’s identity in the world.
