The public meeting organized by the Aam Aadmi Party at Margherita, Dibrugarh, received overwhelming support from the people. Senior AAP leader Atishi addressed a public meeting in support of AAP Lok Sabha candidate Manoj Dhanowar from Dibrugarh. On this occasion, Atishi said that the Aam Aadmi Party is winning the Dibrugarh seat because Dibrugarh is the only seat in the entire Assam where Amit Shah and Narendra Modi are coming to campaign because they are afraid of the Aam Aadmi Party here.
Atishi said that the BJP talks about double engine government. They have had governments in both the Centre and Assam for the last few years. Despite this, the BJP has not been able to fulfill the promises it had made to the people of Assam; on the contrary, they have closed about 8000 government schools in the last few years.
Atishi stated, “If government schools are closed then where will the children of the poor and common people go to study? They (BJP) have destroyed government schools. There are no teachers, no tables and chairs in the schools, no studies take place there. That’s why poor people have to struggle to send their children to private schools.”
“Whereas Shri Arvind Kejriwal had promised that he will make government schools better than the private ones. Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s promises are guarantees. Those are not merely catchphrases or bogus promises that Modi makes. Keeping his promises, in the last 10 years, Shri Arvind Kejriwal has made the government schools of Delhi better than the private schools. While common people in Assam are pulling out their children from government schools and sending them to private schools, the people of Delhi are taking their children out from private schools and sending them to government schools. In the last 3 years, more than 4 lakh children have left private schools and enrolled themselves in Delhi government schools. This is Arvind Kejriwal’s government,” she added.
Atishi stated that today, children coming out of government schools of Delhi get admission in IITs, medical colleges and the prestigious colleges of the country. So, if people in Assam want better future for their children, then the Aam Aadmi Party and Shri Arvind Kejriwal can only make it happen.
She stated, “The BJP promised that the Ayushman Bharat Scheme will provide better treatment, wherever you get treatment, we (central government) will pay for it.” Atishi questioned and said, what is the benefit of such a scheme when it does not even build hospitals. She said that BJP has cheated poor people in the name of Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
Atishi said that just now the report came which revealed that there was a scam worth lakhs of crores of rupees in this scheme. There were so many discrepancies in the documents, patients’ admission date is after their date of death, people got their surgery done after the date of discharge. In the name of Ayushman Bharat, the BJP has committed fraud and given such dilapidated hospitals and dispensaries to the common people where there are no doctors, no nurses, no medicines.
“On the contrary, in Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal gave Mohalla clinics to the people of Delhi, which are well-maintained and near their homes; MBBS doctors are there, all the medicines are free, treatment is done for free, all the tests are free. Today, even if medical treatment in Delhi government hospitals costs lakhs, the government pays all the money, people do not have to pay a single penny,” she said.
Atishi further said that if the people of Assam want such magnificent hospitals and good treatment for free, then only Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party can make it happen.
“The BJP had promised to increase the daily wages of people working in tea plantations from Rs 250 to Rs 351. However, like all the other bogus promises of BJP, this was also just a statement. On behalf of Shri Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party, I guarantee that this time if the Aam Aadmi Party wins from Dibrugarh, we will increase the daily wages of the people working in these plantations to Rs 450,” Atishi stated.
Atishi said that today, if workers get the highest remuneration anywhere in the country, it is in Delhi. When Shri Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister, he increased the minimum wage in Delhi, the BJP tried its best to stop it, but Shri Arvind Kejriwal went to the court and brought an order in favour of the people.
“Modi had made another promise that he would give tribal status to the tribal community working on tea plantations. But this also proved to be a joke. They have governments both at the Centre and in the state, but if they had to give tribal status to these people, they would have given it by now. The BJP people come again and again, make false promises, and go away.”
Atishi said that the BJP makes promises only to break them. In 2014, Modi had promised the people of Assam that if the BJP government was formed, then all the outsiders living in Assam should be ready to pack their bags. And now they are saying that they will bring CAA and make them citizens of India. These people are not ready to give land on lease to the people living in tea plantations, but they will give land on lease to the outsiders, they will also give them houses and jobs. First the people living in Assam should get lease on properties.”
She said that the BJP considers people of Assam as fools. The people of Assam will give a befitting reply to them this time. “This time the people of Assam will not fall for their false promises and statements. This time, if the people of Assam want to get good schools, good hospitals, people working in plantations should get wages of Rs 450, people living in tea gardens should get their houses on lease, then vote for the Aam Aadmi Party. Choose Manoj Dhanowal as your MP,” Atishi concluded.
