NEW DELHI:
Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, the BJP got a big blow in the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency as several senior leaders of the BJP’s youth wing joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with their supporters on Monday.
AAP Delhi State Convenor Shri Gopal Rai welcomed Deepak Bansal, the state vice president of the Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha; Surendra Kumar Chauhan, the state secretary of the wing, and Roshan Chand, district vice president of Mayur Vihar, along with others. All these individuals are from East Delhi and have a good rapport with the public. During this event, Shri Gopal Rai mentioned that the AAP has nominated Shri Kuldeep Kumar from the general seat of East Delhi, representing the Dalit community. Influenced by this, people are joining the AAP family. We are confident that this time the INDIA alliance will win all seven seats in Delhi.
AAP candidate from East Delhi, Kuldeep Kumar, stated that the BJP indulges in politics of deceit and deception. For the past 10 years, the BJP has betrayed East Delhi, but this time, the public will teach them a lesson.
AAP Delhi State Convenor Shri Gopal Rai stated, in a press conference held at AAP headquarters, “After the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections in the country, the Aam Aadmi Party has intensified its preparations. Our Lok Sabha candidates in Delhi have increased public outreach in different assembly constituencies. The party is formulating its future strategy based on different assembly constituencies. Especially in Delhi, victory of the INDIA alliance is guaranteed this time.
The AAP Delhi State Convenor continued “The Bharatiya Janata Party is continuously attacking the rights of Delhi and has snatched away the rights of voters by making such laws. Despite these adverse circumstances, the Delhi government under the leadership of Shri Arvind Kejriwal is working. Influenced by CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s policies and development works, the AAP’s caravan is continuously growing, and various social and political organizations are joining hands with the party.”
“In this series, young people who have held various important positions in the BJP are joining the Aam Aadmi Party. The Aam Aadmi Party has given Lok Sabha ticket to Kuldeep Kumar, who comes from the Dalit community, from the general seat of East Delhi Lok Sabha, and is an AAP MLA from Kondli assembly constituency. Seeing Kuldeep Kumar, a candidate from a Dalit family and the former candidate from the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat of AAP, these young leaders have decided to join the Aam Aadmi Party,” he added.
Shri Gopal Rai mentioned, “It seems that especially in East Delhi, after deliberations, the BJP couldn’t find a single leader whom they could announce as their candidate because no one was prepared to contest from East Delhi. Therefore, the BJP had to import a councillor from the North-East Lok Sabha constituency to make him a Lok Sabha candidate here. As the series of joining the AAP among youth has started in support of Shri Kuldeep Kumar, the AAP’s Lok Sabha candidate from East Delhi, the caravan will further grow. Everyone coming together will successfully give East Delhi a Member of Parliament who will work for the people on the ground and raise voice for Delhi’s rights. Due to the authoritarian behaviour and the double standards being applied to Delhiites, people are joining the AAP in support of Kuldeep Kumar, leaving the BJP.
During this time, Kuldeep Kumar, the candidate from the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat, said that it is very pleasing that leaders who held important positions in the BJP are now joining the Aam Aadmi Party. What has happened today that people are leaving the BJP? The reason is that the BJP indulges in politics of lies and deceit and has betrayed the people of East Delhi for the past 10 years. The BJP always brings candidates who have never stood with the people in their happiness and sorrow. They just come, win, and leave. First, Mahesh Giri came. Then Gautam Gambhir came. Neither of them stayed in touch with the public. Good people can never stay in the BJP. Now, all the good people of East Delhi will come together and teach the BJP a lesson.
Trilokpuri MLA Shri Rohit Mehraulia said that the Aam Aadmi Party’s caravan is rapidly moving forward. Shri Arvind Kejriwal has shown revolutionary changes in Delhi and has initiated a new politics. He has worked to provide basic facilities to the people in the streets and neighbourhoods of Delhi. Shri Arvind Kejriwal especially worked to give dignity and respect to the ‘Dalit’ and marginalized communities. Influenced by his work, people from various parties are joining the Aam Aadmi Party in large numbers. Giving the ticket to Shri Kuldeep Kumar from the general Lok Sabha seat of East Delhi, who comes from the ‘Dalit’ and ‘Valmiki’ community, is the respect Shri Arvind Kejriwal has given. Influenced by this, Dalit leaders of the BJP are joining the Aam Aadmi Party.
Deepak Bansal, a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase-I in the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, thanked the National Convenor of the AAP and other senior leaders for joining the Aam Aadmi Party. “I’m joining the Aam Aadmi Party family influenced by the development policies of Delhi’s ‘Vikas Purush’ (development man) Shri Arvind Kejriwal. The way the Aam Aadmi Party is continuously working on the development projects of Delhi, including women empowerment. The Aam Aadmi Party recently announced ₹1,000 per month for women. All these things are influencing the people of Delhi. Kuldeep Kumar, the pride of youth, is continuously working for the development of his Kondli constituency. The revolution in education Shri Manish Sisodia had brought in Delhi has made a huge difference between the education in government schools before and today. All these things have influenced me a lot.”
It’s noteworthy, Deepak Bansal, who has been quite active in student politics at Delhi University, has also actively participated in social activities. He served as the Joint Secretary in the Delhi University Student Union in 2011-12. He was the District General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and currently served as the Deputy State President of Delhi BJP Youth Morcha.
Meanwhile, Surinder Kumar Chauhan, who joined the AAP leaving the BJP, said that joining the Aam Aadmi Party feels like freedom to him. He is joining the Aam Aadmi Party today influenced by Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s plans and work. The BJP claims to care about the person standing at the end of the line, but that’s just a glib talk. However, Delhi’s ‘Vikas Purush’ Shri Arvind Kejriwal decision to honour Kuldeep Kumar, who comes from the Valmiki-Dalit community, by making him a Lok Sabha candidate, suggests that he does care about the person standing at the end of the line. “We will take Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s policies forward and reach out to every individual. The Aam Aadmi Party is winning the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat. Under the leadership of Kuldeep Kumar, we will win the election with a significant number of votes,” he added.
It is worth mentioning that Surinder Kumar Chauhan was the State Secretary of Delhi BJP’s SC Wing. He was the BJP candidate from the Trilokpuri ward in the 2022 MCD elections.
Meanwhile, Roshan Chand, who was the district vice president of the BJYM in Mayur Vihar, has joined the AAP. Roshan Chand is also an executive member of the Shahdara Bar Association. On the other hand, Roshan Chand served as the secretary of the Deshbandhu College, DU during 2009-10. He has been the vice president of the ABVP in East Delhi. He has served as district vice president of the ‘BJP Yuva Morcha’ and has been actively involved in social activities.
