An emergency Board meeting of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) was convened on Saturday, February 10 at the Delhi Secretariat. Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal chaired the board meeting.
The emergency meeting was convened after complaints from MLAs and others over shortage of water and power at community toilets in the city.
DUSIB Members and MLAs Mr. Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, Mr. Sahi Ram and Mr. Hazari Lal expressed their displeasure in the meeting over inaction of DUSIB Officials. The members also said that the problem has started after the government decided to make these toilets free and open for 24-hours.
The Chief Minister expressed his displeasure to the CEO of DUSIB and asked him to submit a report on the status of each and every community toilet of Delhi.
The Chief Minister directed the CEO to take immediate steps to improve the situation of the community toilets.
The CEO has been asked to submit the report in 7-days; a copy of which should reach each member of the board by noon of February 20. This report will also must have videos of the all the toilets over cleanliness, availability of water, electricity etc. DUSIB Members Mr. Bipin Rai and Mr. AK Gupta would monitor the preparation of the report.
The CEO has also been directed to visit the community toilets himself at the peak usage time everyday up to February 17 and share video reports during his visit with Board members. A representative of the DCW will accompany the DUSIB CEO along with local MLA and Board members who wish to go on surprise checks.
