Following the directions of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain chaired an important meeting with officers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), BSES, and Delhi Jal Board in view of preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramzan. The minister directed officials to ensure adequate hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness on the roads and streets around religious places.
Shri Imran Hussain said that during the holy month of Ramzan a large number of devotees visit religious places to offer their prayers. As such, there is strong need for providing adequate cleanliness on the roads and streets around religious places, especially during the Ramzan period. The roads, streets and lanes must be treated with lime to ensure better cleanliness. The minister further said that there should be a sufficient number of tippers/rickshaws deployed for the disposal of garbage on a priority basis. The minister also directed the MCD to provide adequate sanitary staff for cleaning the streets and lanes to ensure that the streets are cleaned thrice a day during the Ramzan.

The minister directed the officials of Delhi Jal Board for the maintenance of proper drainage and uninterrupted supply of fresh water during the month of Ramzan . He also instructed the Delhi Jal Board officers to fix the water leakage issue at Lahori Gate/ Motia Khan and other places on priority basis for the convenience of commuters in the area. The minister also emphasized the need of providing additional water supply to the residents during the Ramzan. Shri Imran Hussain reiterated that during the holy month of Ramzan the area’s residents would get adequate water supply with increased water pressure.

The minister further directed PWD and MCD officials to repair and maintain roads in these areas to make them commuter friendly. The PWD and the MCD were instructed to expedite the works for the maintenance of roads, including repairing potholes and footpaths.

Shri Imran Hussain directed BSES to ensure a regular supply of electricity during the Ramzan. He also directed officials to ensure proper maintenance of the streetlights installed in the area so that all streetlights could function properly. The minister also instructed BSES to gear up to avoid power cuts during the Ramzan.
