As in previous years, this year too, the Delhi Tourism Department has organized a winter festival program. This time, the program is being held in Shahpur Jat village in Delhi. The 3-day event will run from February 10 to February 12. The program was inaugurated on February 10 by Delhi’s Tourism Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj by lighting a ceremonial lamp.
Addressing the program, Minister Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj said that this festival is a wonderful confluence of Delhi’s rural culture and the modern world of fashion, where even today, people in the village resolve their small problems through the panchayat, while on the other hand, they shop for modern clothes from big showrooms in Shahpur Jat village for weddings and other events held in their homes and buy modern items for their homes from the markets of Shahpur Jat village. This wonderful coordination can be seen in Shahpur Jat village.
Delhi’s Tourism Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the Delhi government’s efforts are to promote trade, employment, and modernity in Delhi through such programs, and along with this, preserving the ancient culture of rural Delhi is also a major effort of the Delhi government. This is why in this three-day program, along with a modern fashion show organized by the Delhi government, a traditional Ragini program has also been organized.
“The special feature of this 3-day program is that on the final day of the program, i.e., February 12, a fashion show will be organized, in which on one side, the younger generation will walk the ramp in modern clothes, while on the other side, the elderly of the village will walk the ramp with the youth wearing their traditional attire of dhoti-kurta and turbans. In this ramp walk, while a 70-year-old grandfather will be seen in his traditional attire, his 20-year-old granddaughter will be seen walking the ramp with her grandfather wearing a beautiful lehenga,” he added.
Minister Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj further said that Delhi’s popular CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal believes that modernity and culture are two sides of the same coin and both can walk together. Until we promote the old villages in Delhi, Delhi cannot progress. Therefore, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal believes that better facilities should be provided to all the villages in Delhi, and the people of the villages should be given every opportunity to shine the name of Delhi along with their village in the whole world.
