Senior AAP Leader and Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Shri Raghav Chadha said the January 18 mayor poll in Chandigarh will change the picture and direction of politics in the country and set the tone for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has entered an electoral alliance with the Congress under the INDIA bloc and the Chandigarh mayor poll in the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh will be the first election under the umbrella.
Shri Chadha said the January 18 election will be the first match of the INDIA alliance and it is going to be no ordinary contest. “This is an election that will change the fate, picture, condition and direction of the politics of this country, and we believe that this election will lay the foundation for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
He said the alliance is going to face the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the election battlefield for the first time and this will be the first India vs BJP match. “The alliance will contest the election with full strength and register a historic, decisive victory. .. And we believe that after registering the victory, this winning streak of the India alliance will not be limited to Chandigarh only. It will go from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Manipur to Mumbai,” said the AAP Rajya Sabha MP.
Shri Chadha said whenever Team India faced any team in the world, the Indians always made Team India win. “We believe that in the Chandigarh elections of 18th January also, Indians will unite and make India win and after this election the scorecard will be India one BJP zero,” he said.
The AAP Rajya Sabha MP said that he believed that the clean sweep of INDIA Alliance on January 18 will set the tone for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “Let me reiterate, India Alliance’s first encounter with BJP on January 18 will be the curtainraiser of 2024, and it will set the tone for what the outcome of all future India vs BJP electoral contests will be,” he said.
Driving home the importance of fighting the January 18 poll unitedly, Shri Chadha said, “I believe that this election will prove another important thing that when India alliance contests elections together, ek aur ek do nahi, ek aur ek gyaraha hote hain (union is strength),” he said.
The AAP leader said that the message of the victory of the alliance in the Chandigarh mayor election will reach the people across the country that whoever contests against the INDIA bloc will be drubbed. “The message of this victory of India Alliance will reach every nook and corner of the country. It will instill a hope in the minds of the people who today want freedom from a dictatorial, incompetent BJP government that if the India alliance fights the elections unitedly, then only the India alliance will win that election,” he said, adding that who so ever fights INDIA, will be facing humiliating defeat.
The Rajya Sabha MP said the candidate for the post of Mayor will be from the AAP and the posts of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be contested by the councillors from the Congress.
Shri Chadha further said that on January 18, the people of Chandigarh will get freedom from the incompetent and dictatorial rule of the BJP in Chandigarh. “The alliance will liberate them and only the INDIA alliance will liberate the people of the country from the dictatorial and useless BJP government sitting at the centre in 2024. So, this coming election is going to be very decisive.”
