Resuming the chanting of ‘Sunderkand’ in Delhi, Senior AAP leader and Delhi Culture Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj today announced that beginning Tuesday, the party will organize a grand Sunderkand program in a structured way across Delhi.
Sunderkand is a chapter in the Hindu epic, the Ramayana. It is named so because it is believed to be a beautiful and significant portion of the text which focuses on the adventures of Hanuman as he searches for Sita in the kingdom of Lanka.
Addressing mediapersons, Shri Bharadwaj said, “As you know, Sunderkand programs used to be organized by the party and by the party MLAs at their respective levels in different assemblies of Delhi. The party has reconstituted the organization in Delhi and with it. the Sunderkand program will be run in a structured manner.”
Shri Bharadwaj said from this Tuesday, January 16, the organization of Aam Aadmi Party will begin a grand Sunderkand program in all the assemblies of Delhi along with the MLAs, councillors, and party workers in each zone. Shri Bharadwaj also took the opportunity to invite the people of Delhi and their families to participate enthusiastically in this grand Sunderkand chanting program.
Shri Bharadwaj said the Aam Aadmi Party will first organize the chanting of Sundarkand at the assembly level and after that it will be done at the ward level and then at the Mandal level also. “When these programs start taking place at the Mandal level, Sunderkand chanting will start taking place every month at more than 2,600 places in Delhi. Under this, Sundarkand will be organized at some places while chanting of Hanuman Chalisa will be held at other places,” he said.
The program that begins on January 16 will continue till in each assembly/ward/zonal level. It will be held every Tuesday at the zonal level; on every second and last Tuesday of the month at ward level; and every first Tuesday of the month at the assembly level.
Sundarkand is believed to remove afflictions, worries and mental agony. It enhances hope, courage, and confidence. Sundarkand is said to confer prosperity, luck, health and wealth to the chanters and listeners.
Shri Bharadwaj also wished all the denizens today a very happy Makar Sankranti that is celebrated to mark the first day of the sun’s transit into Makara rashi.
