In a proactive move, Minister of Social Welfare Shri Raaj Kumar Anand recently convened a high-level review meeting with senior officers to address long standing issues of the department. The primary focus was on the progress of pending cases related to old age pension and disability pension.
The minister felt that despite organising a mega camp for the disposal of pending cases, all the beneficiaries cannot access its benefits.
The meeting highlighted the persistence of pendency of cases at the district level. To expedite resolution, a full-page advertisement will be published, listing details of all pending beneficiaries, and urging their prompt presentation within a stipulated time frame. This approach aims to create new vacancies and effectively clear the backlog.
To streamline data collection, the minister directed collection of the updated information in respect of beneficiaries from banks, facilitating thorough verification of pensioners.
Particularly noteworthy is the Delhi Government’s proposal to enhance support for bedridden disabled individuals, ensuring their daily livelihood needs are met to uphold their dignity.
Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the need to extend additional benefits to beneficiaries above 70 years and those belonging to the SC/ST category.
Dedicated email ID has been created for SC/ST and marginalized beneficiaries, and a portal-level prompt will be introduced for the caste column to guarantee the timely release of pensions, with a specific emphasis on women, particularly those from the SC category, following the guidance provided by Minister Raaj Kumar Anand.
“This comprehensive approach reflects the commitment of the Social Welfare Department to address challenges head-on and enhance the well-being of its beneficiaries. The Department remains dedicated to ensuring that every eligible beneficiary receives the support they deserve,” said the minister.
