On the directions of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has prepared a 10-point plan to make Chhath Mahaparv memorable. The MCD has expedited work to finalize this plan. Briefing about the preparations for Chhath Mahaparv, MCD in-charge and MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak mentioned that before the AAP government came to power, around 70 Chhath ghats were built in Delhi with government assistance, but now more than a thousand magnificent ghats are being constructed. To provide all necessary facilities at these ghats, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has asked to formulate a ten-point program. According to this program, arrangements for tents, lights, toilets, ambulances, doctors, and cultural programs are being made at all the ghats. Devotees won’t have to travel far from home to observe Chhath Puja; considering their issues, Chhath ghats are being built near their homes. Additionally, AAP MLAs, councilors, assembly speaker, along with party volunteers, will be available for service around the clock at the Chhath ghats.
During a press conference, MCD in-charge and MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak stated that Delhi is home to lakhs of people hailing from UP, Bihar, and Jharkhand and preparations for One of the most significant festival, Chhath Mahaparv is in full swing in entire Delhi. In every ward of Delhi, preparations for Chhath Mahaparv have been meticulously done. In 2015, when the AAP government was formed, until then, there were only 70 such ghats across Delhi that were built with the assistance of the Delhi government. Since the AAP government came into power, superlative arrangements for Chhath Puja have been made wherever people from Purvanchal, Bihar, and Jharkhand reside in Delhi. This time, more than a thousand ghats are being constructed across Delhi.
Briefing about the 10-point plan, the MCD in-charge mentioned that to make these ghats excellent, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has announced a 10-point program.
First, excellent ghats will be constructed. Second, arrangements for tents will be made there. Third, there will be provision for lights as people come for Chhath Puja in the morning and at night. Fourth, toilet facilities are being arranged at every ghat. Fifth, arrangements for water are being made. Sixth, provisions for ambulances are being made so that there is no trouble in case of any medical emergency. Seventh, doctors are also being called.
Shri Durgesh Pathak continued, “Eighth, cultural programs are also being organized as per people’s demand everywhere. Renowned cultural program organizers from across the country are being invited. Ninth, ghats are being constructed near people’s homes. Tenth, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has ordered all MLAs, councilors, assembly Speaker, organization ministers, ward presidents, organization secretaries, and all volunteers to stay present at every ghat 24/7, serve the people, and ensure that there are no obstacles to any kind. Additionally, for the first time in MCD’s history, ₹40,000 have been allocated to each ward to avoid any hurdles in the construction and arrangements of the ghats.”
Present on this occasion, AAP MLA Shri Sanjeev stated that the commencement of Chhath Puja is happening for four days. Tomorrow is the day for bathing and eating, the day after is for fasting, followed by evening worship and a morning event on the 20th. I wish everyone a happy Chhath Puja. As every year, this year too, the Delhi government is dedicatedly preparing for Chhath Puja. They are ensuring there are no shortcomings at the ghats and are conducting inspections. However, amidst the celebration of Chhath Puja, as in previous years, this year too, the BJP is playing despicable politics. I listened to the press conference of the BJP Delhi State President and Member of Parliament. They attempt to propagate lies every day. You may try to mislead the public, but in Purvanchal, Chhath Puja holds immense significance. People celebrate the worship of ‘Chhathi Maiya’ with great reverence. At least during this festival dedicated to Chhathi Maiya, refrain from engaging in politics that hurt the faith of those who observe this festival.
Shri Sanjeev Jha mentioned, “In Greater Kailash, a BJP councilor tried to obstruct the puja during Chhath celebrations. Subsequently, we organized a significant protest there. Similarly, in Dwarka, the Deputy Mayor during BJP’s rule challenged that there wouldn’t be any puja, but later they had to back down. In Surat, a significant number of people from Purvanchal and Bihar reside. As there was no provision for the puja there, people started returning to their homes five days earlier which resulted in chaos at the Surat railway station. Many people were injured, and unfortunately, some even lost their lives. If you truly had faith in Chhathi Maiya, you would have arranged for it there. You have governments in Maharashtra and Haryana, what arrangements have you made there? But you are misleading Delhiites. Chhathi Maiya will not forgive you. Stop playing with the emotions of the people from Purvanchal. As Delhi’s CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has instructed all his workers to serve people at the ghats 24/7, my request to the BJP is to also participate in this and stop this kind of dirty politics. I firmly believe that just like every year, this year the worship of Chhathi Maiya will be celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor.”
On the other hand, AAP MLA Shri Akhilesh Pati Tripathi stated that he wants to thank CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal for not only doing remarkable work in the education, health, and electricity sectors in Delhi but also for organizing a massive Chhath Puja. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has elevated the Chhath Puja to such a level that no government has been able to achieve until now. Instead of supporting and cooperating in Chhath Puja, the BJP who always has a difference between their words and actions, is now working against the Delhi government, which has organized the biggest event in Chhath Puja. I come from UP, where the BJP is in power. I want to ask the BJP State President how many government-sponsored Chhath Mahaparv events they are organizing at the Ghats. The BJP was in the MCD for 15 years, but they did not build any ghats for the Chhath Puja. However, the MCD government under the AAP’s leadership has taken commendable steps regarding the Chhath Puja celebrations.
