NEW DELHI:
Under CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s mission to transform Delhi’s road system into world-class transportation infrastructure, PWD Minister Atishi conducted a thorough inspection of the city’s roads for the 4th consecutive week. Minister Atishi inspected the roads between Janakpuri East Metro and Tilak Nagar Metro station. During this inspection, she emphasized the need for immediate maintenance, beautification, drainage improvement, and improvement of crossings and footpaths safer and more user-friendly.
During the inspection, the PWD Minister found that the condition of footpaths on the roads was far from ideal, lacking uniformity and requiring repairs. Numerous encroachments were also observed on the footpaths. Pruning of trees, enhancement of drainage systems, and uniformity in horticulture were also identified as immediate concerns. She noted that there is significant room for improvement in these roads and that the current state is unacceptable in the government led by Arvind Kejriwal.
She stated that “The Kejriwal government will not tolerate any negligence or compromise in the mission to make Delhi’s roads world-class.” Consequently, she directed the officials of PWD to work on transforming these roads with new and innovative ideas. She instructed them to “Formulate a comprehensive plan to enhance all roads in their respective divisions over the next week.”
Atishi instructed the PWD officials to immediately initiate the maintenance of drainage systems, horticulture, pedestrian needs, safety-related changes in footpaths, tree pruning, and replacement of damaged curb stones, particularly on the Central Verge.
Addressing the ongoing issues of the road, Atishi strictly warned officials against any negligence and directed them to conduct a thorough inspection of the entire road stretch, presenting a comprehensive report with targets and plans.
The PWD Minister said, “The BJP continues scheming against AAP leaders every single day. No matter how many attempts they make to stop public work using CBI-ED, our work to beautify Delhi will not stop at any costs.” Discussing the objective of the PWD under the Kejriwal Govt, Minister Atishi said, “The Kejriwal government is committed to improving the quality of the city’s roads as per world-class standards. It is the responsibility of all PWD engineers to focus on making roads better in their designated zones. Any negligence in the mission to improve Delhi’s roads will not be tolerated, and the Kejriwal government will keep working with conviction and firmness, to ensure our roads become the finest in the world.”
