AAP-led MCD, under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, has gone into mission mode to remove all the Garbage Vulnerable Points in Delhi. Senior AAP Leader, MCD In-charge and MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak stated, the most important insight came up from the campaign, a pile of garbage is created once people start throwing garbage at the same point regularly. If we succeed in removing these garbage Vulnerable Points points, then 50-60% of garbage would be reduced in Delhi. We can avoid clean up of garbage through beautification and constant monitoring of clean spots. We will raise awareness among local residents to not throw garbage after the points are cleaned. MCD has prepared a zone wise list of Garbage Vulnerable Points; we will keep adding such points after receiving public feedback. It is my appeal to Delhiites that your support is quite crucial in the success of this mission to make Delhi neat and clean
Shri Durgesh Pathak held an important press conference at Party Headquarters on Friday. He said, “Under the leadership of Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, we are running an initiative to make Delhi neat and clean. This was not just limited to the G20, but we have a mission to do it 24×7, across the year. For that purpose, we launched the 311 App and so far, we have received over 25,000 applications on the App and we are solving the same.”
He continued, “The most crucial aspect of the cleanliness of Delhi is that people develop a habit of throwing garbage at a particular place and it becomes a garbage point. Be it outside the colony or on the roadside. Even the personnel who pick up garbage notoriously collect garbage at a particular point in a neighborhood. We have identified all such points in Delhi. Our officers and cleaners went on the ground and gave us feedback about the problems they faced. Sometimes, a garbage point has more garbage than it can handle. So there is always a pile of garbage lying there. Garbage is picked every evening but a pile of garbage appears the very next day. People have become habitual of throwing garbage there.”
The MCD incharge added, “MCD will designate these points as Garbage Vulnerable Points. Our next initiative is to remove such points. They are getting cleaned even today, but we will create a system where garbage is not thrown there in the first place. Our preparation is going in full swing. We have created a zone wise list across the entire Delhi and identified 1-4 points in each ward. We are anticipating that this list will become longer on the basis of public feedback.”
Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “Our mission is to permanently remove such points in the entire Delhi. After cleaning the garbage, if that place is beautified, flower pots are required to be put there, if there is a need to make any structural changes or put changes round-the-clock security measures by deploying guards who monitor these points and not allow anyone to throw garbage there. Moreover, we will create awareness among the people residing in the nearby areas to not throw garbage there. It is a huge initiative.”
He emphasized, “As I have said earlier, no initiative can be successful without the support of the public. Delhi’s son and CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal is trying with all his might to make Delhi clean by working round the clock. It is my appeal to the people of Delhi to not throw garbage at Vulnerable Points and to cooperate with the MCD to make Delhi clean. If we succeed in removing these Vulnerable Points, we can remove this 50-60% component of cleanliness measures.”
Shri Durgesh Pathak concluded, “Our cleaners pick the garbage and remove the debris. This garbage is further sent for processing in treatment plants, but removing garbage Vulnerable Points will be a huge milestone in the efforts to make Delhi clean and green. We have identified such points and started working to remove them. You will see them disappearing in the next 20 days. We will give a permanent solution as well. We will make these points open to the public in a few days, and along with the citizens, media personnel, our Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councilors, MPs and MLAs can also visit these points. We will keep you updated with the progress. Our only mission is to make Delhi clean at all costs. This is a huge move.”
