To foster the development of future entrepreneurs at Delhi colleges and universities, Higher Education Minister Atishi visited the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Research Park on Friday. The IITM Research Park is an ecosystem where faculty, students, and industry professionals work in collaboration with the aim of boosting technological innovations and entrepreneurship through research and development.
Ms. Atishi visited various specialized innovation and incubation centers at Research Park and engaged in discussions with experts to discuss how the efficiency of Delhi’s colleges and universities can be enhanced to promote entrepreneurship culture among students.
Speaking about the visit, Higher Education Minister Atishi said, “The Delhi Government, under the leadership of CM Arvind Kejriwal, is working towards instilling an entrepreneurship culture in all its colleges. Today’s visit to IIT Madras Research Park is an attempt to understand how we can improve our colleges and universities in promoting entrepreneurship.”
She added, “The IIT Madras Research Park model provides an opportunity for companies, organizations, and aspiring entrepreneurs to collaborate and enhance research and development in various fields. This can serve as a great inspiration for our colleges, where we are striving to foster an entrepreneurship culture among students.”
The Higher Education Minister stated, “It is the vision of the Kejriwal Government to make every youth of Delhi self-reliant and future job creators rather than job seekers. With programs like Business Blasters, we provided a platform for school children to become entrepreneurs, and now it’s the turn of students in colleges and universities. During the visit, I had discussions with various experts to explore how we can establish innovative incubation centers at our colleges and make them successful.”
As part of her visit to IITM Research Park, Ms. Atishi toured the IIT Madras Research Park Incubation Cell, Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre, Centre for Battery Engineering and Electric Vehicles, Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Centre, Pravartak – Centre of Excellence on Sensors, Networking, Actuators, and Control Systems, Centre of Excellence on Wireless Technology – 5G Lab, and the National Centre for Assistive Health Technologies. She also interacted with various entrepreneurs.
It is to be noted that currently, over 80 Research and Development companies/organizations are operating at the IITM Research Park, exploring theories and ideas in fields such as Auto and automotive Energy, Telecom and Networks, Mechanical Engineering and design, Power and Energy Management, Financial Services, Big Data and Analytics, Social Enterprises, Incubators, and Professional Bodies, among others. The Research Park is also home to the IITM Incubation Hub, spearheaded by the Incubation Cell, which has over 300 incubated companies that have created over 7,000+ jobs so far.
