Prestigious Fulbright Teaching Fellowship awarded to six Teachers From Delhi Govt Schools

· The six teachers from Delhi are the only Indian teachers who have been chosen for the programme

· The teachers will travel to the US to attend special programs at various Universities

Six teachers chosen for the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Programme from India this year are all from Delhi government schools.

This Fulbright Fellowship is awarded to the best teachers from around the world. These teachers will be travelling to the United States and receive intensive training in teaching methodologies, lesson planning, teaching strategies for their home environment, teacher leadership, and the use of instructional technologies.
Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia invited the teachers to his residence and congratulated them on behalf of all residents of Delhi. “This is a proud moment for Delhi, since this is the first time that all teachers chosen from India are from Delhi government schools. I have always believed Delhi’s teachers are very talented. It is heartening to see they are receiving international recognition for their service to Delhi’s children. I wish them all the best for an enriching international exposure.”
The six teachers who have received the Fellowship are:

Murari Jha, recipient of Education Minister’s Special Award (2017)

Manu Gulati, Mentor Teacher for English

Anju Pathak, Mentor Teacher for Mathematics

Deepti Chawla, Mentor Teacher for English

Stuti Gaur, Special Educator

Manisha Pavi, Secondary School Teacher for Mathematics

The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) provides outstanding secondary school teachers of English, social studies, math, science, and special education with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United States.

The Delhi government has stepped up its teacher training systems over the last three years, providing quality annual and ongoing training to all teachers. In fact, three of the teachers selected for the Fellowship are Mentor teachers, a specialised cadre of teachers raised by the government two years ago. The Delhi government’s interventions towards reforming government school education are not being recognised across the country, as well as globally.
