Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday inaugurated the development work of 206 roads and 412 drains – which have been built at a cost of ₹31 crore in Om Vihar Phase-5 – the unauthorized colony of Vikaspuri assembly constituency. On this occasion, the CM said that the AAP government is on a mission to provide all the amenities and facilities in the unauthorised colonies of Delhi. He underscored that in the last 75 years, the previous governments could not even provide basic facilities like roads, sewers, clean drinking water to the people in Delhi- which is the country’s capital. He highlighted that all political outfits ask for votes in the name of cast and religion, but he will never do so. He asserted that his mission is to give Delhi the best facilities- irrespective of which religion the people come from. He stated that he hasn’t built any road or school on the basis of whether a Hindu or a Muslim is living there. He also highlighted that under the leadership of previous governments, Delhi’s govt schools were in a dire state- but AAP flipped the script with its immaculate development. “Our children will study, only then we will reach the moon. How will you reach the moon if you remain illiterate?,” he emphasised.
Urban Development Minister Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj, local MLA Shri Mahendra Yadav and others were present at the occasion.
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “Delhi is the capital of the country. The country got independence 75 years ago. But till today, there is no water connection and sewage connection in several homes in the country’s capital. There are no roads and basic amenities in several areas. If we were unable to give these facilities in the capital then we can imagine the condition of the rest of the country. Ever since we formed government in Delhi, I have strived to achieve this only. I am not a politician but a common man, just like you all. I have a normal family just like you and I understand the issues faced by common household. Everyone wants their children to go to a good school, good roads, electricity, water, cleanliness, and sewage. But no one paid heed to this. All the parties only remain involved in fighting with each other. They seek votes on the basis of caste and religion. I will never seek votes on that basis. Several people asked me about my vote bank. All the middle class and poor people are my vote bank, irrespective of the fact from which religion they come from.”
He added, “When I build roads, I don’t see people of which religion resides there. I built so many schools in Delhi and children from all the religions study there. They are our own people and citizens of India. We are here for the development of the country and we do not do politics. People sitting here are not politicians either. Your MLA from Om Vihar pestered me about the development of your area. He came to me and we have spent ₹31 crore to build the roads and sewage here. Other parties, when in power in the past, used to build only a couple of roads in five years and used to sing heaps and praises. We created not two but 206 roads in one Assembly constituency. By next December, I will build all the roads in all the Kutcha colonies in the Vikaspuri Assembly constituency. The credit goes to your MLAs who take it upon themselves to bring files to me and get the money sanctioned.”
He continued, “We have built five main roads, namely 40-feet road, Samadhi Road, Khetwala Road, Peerbaba Road, and Hatsal Navada Road. We have also built 206 other roads. Apart from that, we also installed sewage and water pipelines and built drains. Earlier, there used to be a lot of kichad when we came here to seek votes in 2013. It was you love that we got 701 votes out of 726 from this booth and common man like us got such a huge responsibility. Back then, even the relatives used to hesitate to visit this place. People used to feel ashamed of calling them and they used to pity them for living in such an area. Their children did not even used to get marriage proposals. Now the area is well built and clean.”
Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “However when I enquired before coming here, I got to know that the transformer here is small which causes power cuts. We are identifying a bigger land and the moment we get it, we will install a bigger transformer. There is no shortage of electricity in Delhi. When we came to power in 2015, a summer previous to that saw power cuts of 8 hours across Delhi. How can the country progress if the capital has such huge power cuts? After 8 years, there are no power cuts in any area of Delhi. There can only be fault in transforms or wire but no shortage. We supply electricity 24×7 free of cost. Other parties cannot digest this and they say that I give free ki rewadi. If poor and middle-class people are able to save ₹2-3 thousand rupees of electricity bill every month, what problem do they have with this? They can spend this money on their children’s education and nutrition. I am not gobbling up money but spending it on citizens only. Now, the people of Punjab also get electricity 24×7 free of cost. Earlier they used to have power cuts as well.”
He said, “There are 14 government schools in Vikaspuri. Earlier, they were in pathetic condition, being either run in tents or the classroom were in dilapidated condition. Now, we have built excellent buildings in government schools. People across Delhi are shifting their children from private schools to government schools. In the past few years, the total number of such students is 4 lakhs. We can only touch the moon when our children will get a quality education. I have taken a vow to provide quality education to each and every child, irrespective of the fact that they are poor or rich.”
He added, “We have made arrangements for quality treatment in all the government hospitals in Delhi. You can go to any hospital and get treated for free. Medicines and tests are free as well, for poor as well as rich people. We have also installed CCTV cameras in the entire area for the security of the women so that if anyone tries to trouble them, it will get recorded in camera. These people tried their level best to not let me work. They brought notifications, ordinances, and laws to snatch our powers. I asked them what problem they had with me? Only one problem. What they could not do in 75 years, I did in mere 8 years in Delhi. There is a long way to go and I am making constant efforts.”
The Delhi CM said, “I have said to them that if they want to compete, why not in terms of the progress we made? You have governments in other states. You can try doing the work which I have done here. Why are you behind me only? Why have you snatched my power? It is the people who gave me the mandate and I should have the power to bring progress. Even the Supreme Court gave the verdict on 11th May this year in which it said that the power should reside with the Chief Minister of Delhi but they did not even honor the Supreme Court. They overturned the judgment. We approached the Supreme Court and I am fully optimistic that the Court will rule in the favor of the people of Delhi. We will get our power back but until I am alive, I will continue to bring progress, even if I have powers or not.”
He continued, “These people have played dirtiest politics against the people living in Kutcha colonies. It is not the rich people who live there, they live in mansions. It is the poor people who reside there. They do not have even money so they get small houses in such colonies. To date, these other parties made huge promises before every election. Till 2014, only 262 colonies had roads. In 8 years, I built roads in 850 colonies and by next December, every Kutcha colony in Delhi will have roads. Similarly, only 850 colonies in Delhi had a water supply and now every colony has a water connection.”
He added, “People ask me from where did I get this much money to build all this? Our government is honest and we are saving a lot of money which used to get looted earlier. Earlier, the money used to go in the pockets of the politicians and now it goes to the pockets of the people.”
Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal concluded, “I am working on three-four things with proper planning. Firstly, every house will have a water connection. You will get clean water 24×7 which you can drink directly without any filter or RO. Earlier, people used to have generators and inverters because of power cuts. They have now forgotten about generators and inverters. Just like that, you will forget about RO and filters soon. We are also developing plans to clean the Yamuna River. We will also fix all the roads across Delhi. I am thankful to you all that you brought us to power in Municipal Corporation as well. We have started working to make Delhi clean by picking up garbage. This will take some time but these people ruined Delhi in 75 years. We will make Delhi so clean that you will feel proud about it. Just maintain your love and blessings and we will progress at a very fast pace. These people may do as much politics as they want but we do not want to engage in the same. I do not know how to fight. I am an educated man who knows how to bring progress. I will only seek a vote on the basis of that and nothing else.”
CM Kejriwal reached the public even with high fever
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal had a high fever since morning on Thursday. He could not go to the secretariat today because of it. He also canceled most of the meetings. There is a lot of potential in our country, only dirty politics does not allow us to move forward: Arvind Kejriwal
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, who came to inaugurate the development work in the Kuctha colony of Om Vihar Phase 8 of Vikaspuri assembly constituency, while congratulating all the countrymen for reaching India’s moon, said, “Our scientists have done wonders. There are only four countries in the whole world, which have gone to the moon so far. It has Russia, China, America, and India. Our scientists have made our chests swell with pride. Now, India is walking proudly in the whole world with its head held high. The moon has a south pole on the moon. America, China, and Russia could not go to the south pole of the moon. There are huge pits on the South Pole. It is being told that there is a possibility of getting oxygen and ice. India is the only country in the world to reach the South Pole.”
He added, “There are immense possibilities in our country. The people of our country are wonderful. God has created the most intelligent people in India. It is our dirty politics, which does not allow us to move forward. Congress is fighting with the BJP, BJP is fighting with Aam Aadmi Party. Everyone should work together and take the country forward. Everyone will work together only then the country will progress. Whatever fighting you want to do should exist during the elections. There should be no fighting with each other after the elections are over. Then the country should move forward.”
