Due to the continuous discharge of water from the Hathinikund barrage in Delhi, the water level in the Yamuna river is steadily rising, resulting in the flooding of Khadar areas. Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal personally monitored the issues faced by the affected population due to the rising water levels. In accordance with the Chief Minister’s instructions, all AAP MLAs, councillors, and workers are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations throughout Delhi. Demonstrating relentless efforts, AAP MLAs, councillors, and workers visited the flood and relief camps established by the Kejriwal government on Thursday to evaluate the arrangements and interact with those affected by the floods. Additionally, in many areas, AAP workers offered assistance by providing essential food supplies to those impacted by the flood. Furthermore, they urged individuals residing in low-lying areas to evacuate and relocate to the relief camps to avoid mishaps and accidents.
Following CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s instructions, AAP MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak, provided support near Marghat Hanuman temple to aid in relief operations aimed at rescuing people from the floods. During this time, Shri Durgesh Pathak reassured that relief and rescue work is progressing swiftly. “People are being safely evacuated from submerged areas, and every possible effort is being made to assist and provide necessary facilities to those affected. The Kejriwal government has established relief camps to relocate people from Khadar areas, and provisions for accommodation, food, water, medical assistance, and other essential services have been made there. Care is being taken to ensure that individuals residing in the camps encounter no difficulties. While some individuals are reluctant to leave their homes, they are being encouraged to vacate unsafe areas and seek refuge in the camps to prevent any accidents.”
On the other hand, AAP MLA Shri Sanjeev Jha inspected the flood relief camp established near UGR, in Burari. He shared that the water level of the Yamuna river had reached 208.46 metres, which is currently below the actual height of Burari Pushta which is set at 214 meters. As a precautionary measure, individuals affected by the floods are being relocated to safer and higher areas. Presently, there is no flood threat in the low-lying regions of Burari. “We are monitoring the situation in accordance with CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s directions, and all Delhi government agencies are fully prepared,” stated Shri Sanjeev Jha. Adequate facilities such as mobile toilets, beds, tents, water tankers, and food have been arranged for the evacuees.
AAP MLA Shri Kuldeep Kumar, along with party workers, arrived in the flood-affected areas to provide assistance to the people, and distributed food supplies to those affected. Shri Kuldeep Kumar highlighted the danger of waterlogging due to the rising water levels in the Yamuna river. Nevertheless, he expressed confidence in the collective efforts of all Delhi residents to overcome this challenge. “We are present on the ground, providing relief to all individuals as per CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s instructions.” Meanwhile, Shri SK Bagga, Krishna Nagar MLA of Delhi, visited the Pushta cremation ground and other low-lying areas. He reported that water had accumulated at the Geeta Colony cremation ground, and there is a possibility of water entering other low-lying areas as well. The administration is diligently carrying out its responsibilities, and people should prioritise their safety by avoiding affected areas. Furthermore, former MLA Shri Nitin Tyagi, visited the areas around Laxmi Nagar, distributing food supplies to the affected individuals. He reiterated the importance of cooperation and patience during these challenging times. He urged everyone to unite and extend support to those displaced by the floods, emphasising the need for humanitarian aid rather than engaging in politics. MLA Shri Praveen Kumar from the Jangpura also joined in the efforts to assist the people and provided food supplies to those affected.
