In view of the rising water level of Yamuna, the Kejriwal government has started preparations on a war footing for relief and rescue operations. In this direction, today Development Minister Shri Gopal Rai took stock of the situation at Monastery Market, ISBT adjacent to the Yamuna. He further issued directions to the officials of SDM, PWD and I&FC to take prompt action regarding the rising water level of Yamuna. Additionally, instructions have also been given to ensure all essential amenities such as accommodation, food, water, restrooms, and medical facilities for the individuals residing in the relief camps. The residents of the affected areas are being relocated to camps established in various districts of Delhi.
After taking stock of the situation, Development Minister Shri Gopal Rai said, “Due to the heavy rains in northern India, the water in the Yamuna is increasing rapidly. Along with this, lakhs of cusecs of water is being released continuously from Hathinikund barrage. Consequently, the water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi has surpassed the critical point. In this critical situation, the Kejriwal government has implemented measures to address all potential dangers. Looking at the flood situation, today we have inspected the Monastery Market, ISBT area adjacent to Yamuna. Along with this, instructions have been issued to the officials of SDM, PWD and I&FC for quick action on the rising water level of Yamuna.”
Shri Rai added, “The Kejriwal government has set up roughly 2700 tents for individuals impacted by the calamity. Furthermore, officials have been directed to guarantee that all essential amenities, such as lodging, sustenance, restrooms, and medical facilities, are available at the relief camps. These shelters can be found in every district of Delhi, extending from Palla in the north to the southern district. Motorized boats have been deployed at various locations along the Yamuna River for relief and rescue operations. These boats are equipped with all the necessary rescue equipment. District Magistrates have also been instructed to keep all teams on high alert and to deploy additional teams if necessary.”
Shri Rai further said, “The reason for the rising water level of Yamuna in Delhi is the water being released from Haryana. To stop the rising water level of Yamuna, a letter has also been written to the Central Government today so that all of us together can help the people of Delhi in this hour of disaster.”
