Taking a step further in making the government schools of Delhi world-class, Education Minister Ms. Atishi inaugurated the new school building at Rana Pratap Rajkiya Sarvodaya Kanya/Bal Vidyalaya Rithala today. This remarkable event symbolized progress and reflected the vision of the Kejriwal Government to reshape the lives of underprivileged children by providing them with exceptional educational opportunities.

This new state-of-the-art 4-storey school building has 50 classrooms along with facilities such as 10 modern labs, 2 libraries, office and staff rooms, activity rooms, toilet blocks on every floor and lifts. There is also a fully air-conditioned multi-purpose hall with a capacity of 250 people. Now this school will provide a comfortable and dignified learning space for over 5500 children in the area.

In her address to the students and attendees, Education Minister Ms. Atishi emphasized the disparity that exists in Indian society, where children from wealthy families can afford expensive private schools, while those from less fortunate backgrounds are compelled to enroll in government schools. She acknowledged the alarming fact that more than 50 percent of students who enter government schools across the country drop out before completing their 12th-grade education and end up taking menial jobs.

Ms. Atishi said, “The state-of-the-art Delhi government school inaugurated today is better than private schools in the country. Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal and architect of Delhi Education revolution Shri Manish Sisodia transformed parents’ view of Delhi government schools with their unwavering efforts. Post the Delhi Education Revolution parents willingly opt for Delhi Government Schools now. If we are to make India No.1 in the world, then it must be ensured that every child gets quality education in the country. Delhi Education Revolution has not only given a bright future to lakhs of children but is also a step towards making India No.1”.

Education Minister Ms. Atishi further said, “Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal and architect of Delhi Education Revolution Shri Manish Sisodia embarked on a transformative journey in 2015 with a shared vision to revolutionize education in Delhi. Their unwavering dedication aimed to ensure that every underprivileged child receives a quality education. They had a common vision that regardless of financial circumstances, every child in the country deserves access to the finest education.”

Reflecting on the progress made since 2015, Ms. Atishi recalled the dire conditions prevalent in Delhi’s government schools earlier. The lack of infrastructure, broken windows, dysfunctional lights, and inadequate study spaces were the regular norm. However, with immense gratitude, she acknowledged the unwavering commitment of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal and the visionary efforts of Shri Manish Sisodia, the architect of this Delhi Educational Revolution. “Their dedication has resulted in a substantial improvement in the quality of education provided in Delhi’s government schools,” said Ms. Atishi.

Highlighting the profound impact of this revolution and the Kejriwal government’s consistent 25% allocation to education in every financial budget, Minister Atishi said, “Now, children from government schools dream beyond societal expectations. If children in our government schools are interested in cars, they don’t just think about becoming a mechanic in a car shop but dream of becoming an engineer in prestigious national and international companies like Mercedes or BMW. The results of the 10th and 12th-grade examinations in Delhi’s government schools have consistently surpassed those of private schools across the country for the past six years. Over 1,000 students from Delhi’s government schools have successfully cleared competitive exams such as NEET and IIT and gained admission to premier institutes”, said Ms. Atishi.

On this momentous occasion, MLA Shri Mohinder Goyal from Rithala said, “I consider myself very fortunate to be a part of the team led by Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal and architect of Delhi Education Revolution Shri Manish Sisodia. When I presented the deteriorating condition of schools in my constituency before Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal and Shri Manish Sisodia, they assured me that a splendid school would be constructed for the children at the earliest. Today that dream has turned into reality.”
