Today, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain chaired an important meeting with officers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), PWD, and Delhi Jal Board in preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations. The Minister directed officials to ensure adequate hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness on the roads and streets around religious places. Shri Imran Hussain instructed the MCD to provide sufficient sanitation manpower to clean the streets and lanes twice a day, in the morning and late evenings, during the festive occasion. He emphasised that he would personally monitor the sanitation and cleanliness drive throughout the capital and urged officials to ensure hygiene before and after Eid-ul-Fitr.
The F&S Minister directed officials to ensure utmost cleanliness in the walled city area, such as Chamelian Road, Ram Kumar Marg, Jhandelwalan Road, Qutub Road, Fatehpuri, Chandni Chowk, Eidgah, and its surroundings during the festive occasion. He further added that there should be a sufficient number of tippers deployed for the disposal of garbage on a priority basis.
With Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s vision to provide basic amenities to citizens and ensure freshwater supply, Shri Imran Hussain directed Delhi Jal Board officers to distribute water equitably with increased water pressure to residents during the festive occasion. He also directed officials to ensure proper drainage maintenance and uninterrupted freshwater supply to all residents. The Minister also urged officials to ensure arrangements for water tankers near religious places so that devotees do not face water-related issues during the summer season.
The Minister directed PWD officers to deep clean the main roads and footpaths, especially between Chandni Chowk to Fatehpuri & Jama Masjid area and emphasised the spraying of disinfectant on footpaths and roads. He instructed officials to dispose of the garbage lying on the dividers of the main roads and install signages on a priority basis for the convenience of commuters.
Shri Imran Hussain further emphasised that the Delhi Government under the leadership of Shri Arvind Kejriwal is committed to providing all necessary and basic facilities, such as drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, ensuring cleanliness, and functional street lights during the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. He said, “I will personally monitor the sanitation and cleanliness drive throughout the capital,” and added, “Arrangements for water tankers should also be ensured near religious places so that the devotees do not face water-related issues during the summer season.”
