Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday protested against the dictatorship of the PM Narendra Modi-led Central Government. All the party MLAs and thousands of workers of AAP protested for several hours against the arrest of Shri Manish Sisodia. The party workers who came out to lay siege to the BJP headquarters were stopped by the Delhi Police who put out barricades on their path. After that the protesters continued their demonstration on the road and carried placards reading messages such as “Modi Jab Jab Darta Hai, Police ko Aage Karta Hai” and “Manish Sisodia Tujhe Salaam”.
Taking part in the protest, AAP senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh said that the party’s struggle against the Central Government will continue in the courts, streets, and the Parliament of India. He further said that the “dictatorship of the Narendra Modi government has reached its peak”.
The AAP senior leader said that the Modi Government’s actions show that it wants to keep India uneducated. He highlighted how the two most capable ministers in the country, who transformed the health and education sectors in Delhi, were currently under arrest because of Modi’s government. He highlighted that PM Modi put Shri Manish Sisodia, who provided high-quality education to millions of children in India, behind bars. Meanwhile, Shri Narendra Modi travels in aircrafts owned by Gautam Adani, who scammed the country of lakhs of crores, he said.
Attacking PM Shri Narendra Modi, AAP leader Shri Sanjay Singh said, “Each citizen and AAP worker can see through your evil designs now. No matter what you do, the Aam Aadmi Party’s work will continue, the people of Delhi will not be deterred, our caravan will not be halted, and Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s popularity will never wane.”
According to media reports, Shri Manish Sisodia personally addressed the court today and said that CBI was asking him the same questions for 8–10 hours daily, amounting to “mental harassment” and “third-degree torture.” Responding to questions from the media regarding the same, Shri Sanjay Singh reiterated how Shri Manish Sisodia, who was not even named in the first charge sheet, was first taken on a 5-day remand. He said the entire procedure so far by the CBI reveals that their intention is to extract an admission of guilt through harassment, force, and intimidation. He explained how the CBI had also earlier initiated false cases against other AAP leaders, raided CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s house, and raided the Deputy Chief Minister’s house. He emphasised that the CBI will not find anything this time either, no matter the amount of harassment they subject AAP leaders to.
AAP Chief Spokesperson and MLA Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj also castigated the CBI for working directly at the instructions of the central government and not as a federal agency. Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said that no fresh argument was presented by the CBI today that would necessitate the extension of Shri Manish Sisodia’s CBI remand. He explained that the CBI is effectively saying that the only way Shri Manish Sisodia can cooperate with them is by accepting their unfounded allegations.
He stressed that this is clearly a case of abuse of laws, and the CBI’s intention is evident. He also claimed that the CBI is aware that Shri Manish Sisodia will eventually be proven innocent since there is no evidence against him. “But the central government would consider it a victory if they could keep Manish Sisodia in jail for as long as possible through an unfair process,” alleged Bharadwaj.
The AAP Chief Spokesperson added, “The people can see through the BJP’s designs. The history of democracy shows that whenever a central government has abused its power to oppress the people, the people have registered their response to it in the next election. BJP will get its response from the people in the coming time.”
Responding to a reporter’s question, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj expressed that AAP has no faith in the CBI’s ability to conduct a fair and thorough investigation, stating that the CBI has no regard for due investigative procedures. He emphasised that the public sees the real face of CBI and how it is a handmaiden of the central government.
He explained how all opposition parties have consistently accused investigative agencies of using the investigation process to harass and punish people, despite a lack of evidence. He drew attention to the Deputy Chief Minister’s recent eight-hour interrogation by these agencies, despite being responsible for 18 government departments and doing commendable work. “The central government is embarrassing the country at a global level by harassing the ministers who achieve exemplary work,” Bharadwaj added.
He also clarified that the people did not gather to protest the court order, but rather as a show of support for their leader. He noted that the people will continue to voice their support, even as the central government moves forward with its procedures.
