The Aam Aadmi Party has unequivocally expressed its solidarity and support for its Senior Leaders Shri Manish Sisodia and Shri Satyendar Jain. Both Shri Sisodia and Shri Jain tendered their resignations to Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday evening to ensure the smooth functioning of the Delhi Government while they await a long legal battle against the BJP’s witch hunt. Notably, Shri Manish Sisodia was serving as Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister with charge of various important portfolios like Education and PWD, while, Shri Satyendar Jain served as a Cabinet Minister with departments like Health, Electricity and Water under him.
Addressing the media over this matter, AAP Chief Spokesperson and MLA Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj said that both the ministers are victims of BJP’s vendetta politics and being made to suffer due to their commitment to the cause of honesty. Expressing disappointment over the state of political discourse, he said that both the leaders are known world over for their education and healthcare models and it is unfortunate that they have been subjected to such a cheap level of politics. “The BJP through its Central Government is running an organised witch hunt behind Shri Manish Sisodia and Shri Satyendar Jain. The only message this is giving out is that the Modi Government is leaving no stone unturned in harassing honest and dedicated ministers of the opposition,” he added.
Reiterating that the cases against both the leaders are frivolous, fabricated, he said that such politics is detrimental to the society and is going to ruin the society in the longer run. Both of our senior ministers dedicated their lives and careers for the upliftment of Delhi and its people, but the BJP has subjected them to the lowest of the low levels of politics, he argued.
Explaining the rationale behind why both the senior party leaders tendered their resignation, Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the laws only allow 6 Ministers in addition to the CM to constitute the cabinet in Delhi. Shri Satyendar Jain and Shri Manish Sisodia commanded a majority of portfolios in the cabinet. In their absence it was certain that their departments would face hardships. “To avoid any work of the people of Delhi from getting impeded, both of them took a rational and conscious decision to resign from their posts,” he said.
The AAP Chief Spokesperson also informed that two new ministers will be inducted into the Delhi Cabinet in the spots vacated by the two leaders once resignations are accepted. “No matter what, the whole Aam Aadmi Party, all its cadres, and the entirety of the Delhi Government will continue to stand in solidarity with Shri Manish Sisodia and Shri Satyendar Jain. Every MLA, every Councillor, every single volunteer of the party will forever remain in support of Shri Manish Sisodia and Shri Satyendar Jain,” he said.
