The Aam Aadmi Party’s top brass hit out at the BJP on Monday over Dy CM Shri Manish Sisodia’s arrest, vowing to continue fighting BJP’s misdeeds and exposing the Modi-Adani Scam. AAP Senior Leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh said that the arrest of Delhi Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia is a well-planned conspiracy of the Bharatiya Janata Party and explained that it has been done at this time only to deflect the questions that are being raised by the people of the country regarding the link between the Adani Group and the BJP-led Central Government. AAP Delhi Convenor and Delhi Cabinet Minister Shri Gopal Rai also spoke out regarding the CBI’s arrest of Shri Manish Sisodia, he questioned the CBI’s actions, stating that Shri Manish Sisodia has been presenting himself to the CBI whenever summoned and that the CBI had no response to the court’s question about why they required a five-day remand.
While, earlier in the day, AAP National Convenor and Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “I am told that most CBI officers were against Manish’s arrest. All of them have huge respect for him and there is no evidence against him. But the political pressure to arrest him was so high that they had to obey their political masters.”
Holding a press conference at party headquarters, Shri Sanjay Singh explained how the Shri Narendra Modi-led government is involved in scams worth not a few thousand but lakhs of crores and therefore to deflect the blame from their misdeeds they have decided to arrest Shri Manish Sisodia on a fake case.
Shri Sanjay Singh also called the PM Narendra Modi-led government a fascist government and added that for its political benefit it has gone on to arrest a person such as Shri Manish Sisodia, who is responsible for providing a bright future to lakhs of children of Delhi. He pointed out that this was done despite there being no evidence to arrest the Delhi Dy CM and said that his house was raided for over 14-hours but nothing was found over there. He also highlighted how raids were conducted by the investigative agencies at his office and ancestral village and over there as well no evidence was found against him. Yet despite this, the CBI has now accused the Delhi minister of receiving a bribe of Rs 10,000 crores.
The senior AAP leader pointed out that all of this had been done to deflect the blame from the scams that had taken place involving the BJP of late. He pointed out that the Central Government that was virtually run and sponsored by the Adani Group was involved in scams running into lakhs of crores. He highlighted that it was not a matter of Rs 1,000 crore or 2,000 crore, but of several lakhs of crores.
He elaborated that the timing of Shri Manish Sisodia’s arrest is very crucial and well-planned and pointed out that the Delhi Dy CM had been picked up at a time when the Central Government was on the defensive regarding its links to the Adani Group and a collective of Opposition parties had been asking for a JPC probe into the allegations against the company made by the Hindenburg Research report. He also said that the Shri Narendra Modi-led government had over the years given away the resources of the nation to be plundered by the Adani Group and listed out coal, gas, electricity, water, roads, steel, cement, seaport and airport – and pointed out how from the sky to the oceans, everything had been given away to the Adani Group on a platter. He further added that beyond all of this it provided loans worth Rs 2.5 lakh crores and also forbade loans worth Rs 84,000 crores of the company.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP asked what had the Adani Group done for the country in response to all of this and added that it went on to create six fake companies on the same address in Mauritius and used these companies to buy its own stock in the market and inflate its prices. He added that the Adani Group had similarly created offshore shell companies in other island nations and invested Rs 42,000 crore worth black money into its own companies. The senior AAP leader further asked if this black money belongs to the BJP and its leaders. He said that today the citizens of the country are asking Shri Narendra Modi what his relationship with Shri Gautam Adani are and whether all of this black money belongs to him or his political party. An investigation into this question, he pointed out, has the potential to unmask all the misdeeds of the BJP and Shri Narendra Modi. The political leadership of the BJP would be exposed in front of the public if there is a probe into this question, Shri Sanjay Singh said.
He argued that it is to deflect these questions from coming up that Shri Manish Sisodia has been arrested. He pointed out that the Aam Aadmi Party has been enjoying the love and support of the people because of its pro-people policies, including providing free electricity, water and good quality schools and hospitals. Most importantly, AAP has been able to have a surplus budget despite providing such facilities to the people of Delhi, and this is what has been troubling the BJP. He said that the BJP does not want AAP to set an example of governance in the country and the world. Citing the example of Former First Lady Melania Trump he pointed out how when she was on a visit to India she made it a point to visit the government school of Delhi. Shri Sanjay Singh added that it is these things that are bothering the leadership of the BJP. Shri Arvind Kejriwal and his ‘Development Model’ is being applauded the world over and therefore the BJP has asked the investigative agencies controlled by it to manufacture cases against the AAP leadership.
Shri Sanjay Singh described how the Aam Aadmi Party office in Delhi was raided and attacked by the Delhi Police and several party workers and leaders of AAP were assaulted and detained by the police. He further said that PM Shri Narendra Modi has the audacity to send Delhi Police to attack the office of a National Party but his hands are folded when it comes to corrupt friends of his like Shri Gautam Adani.
Reacting to the attack on party workers by the BJP-controlled Delhi Police, Shri Sanjay Singh said that AAP is a political party that was born from a people’s movement and therefore it knows how to fight dictatorship. Warning the BJP that the people will definitely bring it to justice, he said that because India is a democracy, nobody can continue their dictatorship here for long.
He explained that on the one hand, all agencies like the CBI, SEBI, ED, and the Income Tax Department, are silent about Modi’s friend Adani, who has looted the country of crores and from whose port in Mundra, drugs worth thousands of crores were seized. On the other hand, there is Shri Manish Sisodia, the architect of a bright future for millions of children, whom Modi has put behind bars. He added that anyone can compare the government schools of Delhi now to how they were in 2015, when AAP formed a majority government for the first time, and see the remarkable work that Shri Manish Sisodia has done. It is because of this work of his, that the Delhi Dy CM resides in the hearts of millions of children in the country, and today Shri Narendra Modi has broken the hearts of lakhs of children by arresting the Delhi Education Minister.
He concluded by saying that AAP will fight against the atrocities of the BJP-led Central Government and that it will be the Aam Aadmi Party that will bring an end to Modi’s dictatorial rule. “PM Shri Narendra Modi has crossed all limits with his atrocities, injustice, and dictatorship. The BJP can keep trying to threaten AAP leaders with jail, lawsuits, FIRs and arrests. But the Aam Aadmi Party will continue to expose the nefarious alliance between Modi and Adani and how they are selling the country to all citizens. The people of India will bring an end to Modi’s dictatorial rule to an end,” he said.
At another presser, Shri Gopal Rai further asserted that the CBI would find no evidence against Shri Manish Sisodia in the five-day remand they have been granted, just as they found no evidence during raids at his house, bank, ancestral village, and an eight-hour questioning session yesterday. The CBI has claimed that Shri Manish Sisodia has engaged in foul play in the framing of the excise policy, but Shri Gopal Rai challenged this claim by asking why the Lieutenant Governor, who finally notified the policy, has not been investigated.
Shri Gopal Rai contended that Dy CM Shri Manish Sisodia is being framed because of the BJP’s heinous politics, stating that if the central government truly wanted to combat corruption, it would have issued at least one notice against the Adani scam by now. AAP welcomed the investigation but demanded that if he is hounded, Adani and the Delhi LG should be probed as well.
Shri Gopal Rai concluded by stating that AAP will keep cooperating with the investigation, but if the arrest is a means to spread terror among the people, they will answer back. Today, the party protested across the country against the way Prime Minister Modi is misusing central agencies and abusing his power against the opposition.
