Delhi Arogya Kosh (DAK) – financial assistance for treatment

Delhi Arogya Kosh (DAK) provides financial assistance to patients for treatment of illness/disease in a government or empaneled private hospital. As of Feb 2020, 23 private labs and 57 private hospitals were empaneled to provide over 1155 packages. (Source: Pg. 9, DDC Performance Report, 2020)

Health Information Management System 

Health Management Information system (HIMS)is a cloud-based project to connect all Government Hospital records & data. It is expected to be implemented by March 2022.

“The project will bring about a revolution in the healthcare infrastructure of Delhi and make health management seamless, leveling it with the standards of developed countries.” – Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi CM

  • By 2022, Delhi will be the first state to have a world-class cloud-based health management system which will link all components of the healthcare delivery process.
  • All the patient care services, hospital administration, budgeting and planning, supply chain management, and backend services and processes will be brought under the system.
  • People will get QR-based eHealth Cards that will be a repository of all their medical information. This will be integrated with HIMS.
  • People will be able to book online appointments with doctors at government hospitals.
  • HIMS will have a dedicated 24×7 Health Helpline where call centers will be set up for the convenience of the people and to address their grievances. 
  • In the future, this facility will be extended to private hospitals as well.

Dengue Cases brought down by “10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute” campaign

The AAP Delhi Government’s 10-week anti-dengue campaign kickstarted on Sept 6, 2020, with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal checking his house for stagnant water.
The ‘10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute’ campaign seeks to build awareness about prevention of vector-borne diseases. Under the campaign, citizens must inspect their homes for any possible sources of stagnant clean water, which can lead to the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes that spread vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.

“This is the second last week of the campaign and due to the aggressive campaign by the Delhi government this year no dengue-related death has been reported in the national capital,” the AAP Government said in a statement about the campaign for the year 2020 (Link)

This number came down further to 1072 in 2020 but increased in 2021.

Happiness Therapy – Healing with a smile

Happiness Therapy is an initiative for physical, cognitive, emotional and social integration of patients and staff in the hospitals.  

A pilot of the Happiness Therapy was inaugurated on 17th January 2019 at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital to ensure speedy recovery and better healing of patients.

As of March 2020, this had been adopted by 16 government hospitals.  

The therapy through its mediums of Dance, Music and Songs, Yoga, Meditation and Laughter envisages better healing, speedy recovery, increased harmony and bonding between staff and patients. 

The sessions are conducted within the hospital premises and wards, barring the ICU and Emergency Ward services.
