CM launches 10 Hafte, 10 Baje 10 Minute Dengue prevention campaign
·         Mr Arvind Kejriwal begins the Dengue prevention campaign from his residence
·         CM appeals to Delhiites to ensure there are no mosquitoes breeding spots in their surroundings
Chief Minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday morning launched the Delhi government’s 10 week awareness campaign for the prevention of Dengue and Chikungunya by checking his own residence for any possible sources of stagnant clean water which can lead to the breeding of Aedes Mosquitoes which spread these vector borne diseases.
The Chief Minister had appealed to all ministers, MLAs and the public to begin this mega-campaign from their own homes this Sunday morning for 10 minutes, as part of the – 10 Hafte, 10 Baje 10 Minute – campaign.
Cabinet ministers and elected representatives carried out the checks at their homes and actively shared photographs and videos on social media platforms.
The Chief Minister, along with his family members checked all possible sources where there is a possibility of clean water having accumulated and ensured no stagnant water was found at home and in the surroundings. (Photos attached)
After completing the check, the Chief Minister stated :“ My family and I inspected our home today to make sure there is no standing clean water in any part of the house. This is the best way to protect your family from Dengue. I am happy to see people across Delhi participate in this campaign.”
In his appeal to Delhiites, Mr Kejriwal said mass awareness is extremely important for the prevention of Dengue and Chikungunya. The Chief Minister shared details of a survey he had conducted on Instagram o Saturday.
“I had asked a question whether people know that Dengue spreads only through mosquito breeding in clean water. You will be surprised to know that 35 % of the respondents replied that they did not know that Dengue is caused by clean stagnant water,” the Chief Minister said.
Mr Kejriwal said there is an urgent need to ensure there are no mosquito breeding spots in and around our homes and in the neighbourhood. “Aedes mosquitoes cannot fly long distances and if can ensure that there are no breeding spots for these mosquitoes around us then we are safe from Dengue.”
The Chief Minister said Delhiites have done a remarkable job during last three years by not having allowed Dengue and Chikungunya to spread, and this year Delhi has to bring down this number further down.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr Manish Sisodia and other cabinet ministers also carried out the checks at their homes and shared messages with the residents of Delhi to remove all possible sources of mosquitoes breedings from their surroundings.
The campaign will continue every Sunday till 15th November.
