Rajya Sabha MP ND Gupta, AAP National Spokesperson and South Delhi Lok Sabha Incharge Raghav Chadha and Badarpur MLA ND Sharma addressed the media at AAP Head Office today. During the Press Event, Senior BJP leaders Dharamveer Awana and Raju Nirmal formally joined the Aam Aadmi Party.
Addressing the media, Raghav Chadha said,” I welcome the two senior leaders who will surely strengthen the Delhi Unit of AAP, especially South Delhi Lok Sabha unit as they have joined from MLA ND Sharma’s Vidhan Sabha, being Badarpur. They have been influenced by CM Arvind Kejriwal’s and MLA Sharma’s work and thus have officially joined Aam Aadmi Party.”
Introducing the new joinees, Raghav Chadha said,” I welcome Dharamveer Awana ji who is a former BJP Councilor from Meethapur Ward, he served as Deputy Chairperson SDMC Standing Committee for a year and continued as an active member for four years. He was also member of the Councilors Code Of Conduct Committee and engaged in BJP’s organization building as a ‘Vistarak’ in Bijwasan Vidhan Sabha. He has been an active member of the BJP and served as councilor from 2012-2017 in Badarpur Vidhan Sabha.”
“I also welcome Raju Nirmal Ji. He most recently contested the MCD elections 2017 on a BJP ticket form Badarpur Ward in Badarpur Vidhan Sabha. He finished second with over 7,000 votes to his credit. He has been actively working in South Delhi with various senior BJP leaders.”
He also said, “Several senior and veteran members of the BJP who have previously fought elections or worked during elections, have been influenced by AAP’s ideology and work and have expressed interest in joining the party in South Delhi Parliamentary Constituency. We can expect more leaders from the BJP to join AAP in the coming time. On the other hand, it has been nearly impossible to find Congress leaders in South Delhi parliamentary constituency, even with a torch light as Congress is absent, irrelevant and non existent here. However AAP welcomes honest and upright leaders from across party lines, even dormant members of dormant parties, who want to work for the betterment of Delhi with open arms.”
Addressing the Press, MP ND Gupta said, “On behalf of the party and myself, I welcome Awana ji and Nirmal ji and congratulate them on becoming members of the Aam Aadmi Party. I am sure they will contribute immensely towards realizing CM Arvind Kejriwal’s vision for Delhi. I hope that the two leaders will work alongside MLA ND Sharma in Badarpur and help in organization building and campaigning for the upcoming 2019 General Elections.”
Addressing the media, MLA ND Sharma said, “Shri Awana had a very successful tenure as a Councilor from Meethapur Ward. He is a formidable leader, played a big role in unifying people and has a very effective team. He has been influenced by AAP’s work in the field of Education and Healthcare and was impressed with how approachable AAP leaders are. I hope you will work in the framework of the Party and I am sure that your joining will strengthen all our Vidhan Sabhas in South Delhi.” “BJP leader Raju Nirmal also fought an impressive election in the latest MCD elections. He also shares the ideology of AAP which is to develop and improve education sector and healthcare sector and thus joined our party. I hope that in the coming time, we will strengthen Cm Arvind Kejriwal’s hands. We must work together for the upcoming election campaign.”
Addressing the media, Dharamveer Awana said, “Raju Nirmal ji and I decided to join Aam Aadmi Party after being influenced by the revolutionary work of CM Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi had a lot issues in the sphere of Healthcare and Education, but AAP government has focused on them and brought changes and I wanted to join . I pledge allegiance to Aam Aadmi Party until the day I die. After leaving BJP and joining AAP, many people came up to me and told me I should have made the shift earlier because there is respect for hard work and honesty in AAP.”
Addressing the media, Raju Nirmal said, “Today we have joined the party after being influenced by the work done by CM Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi and by development work in Badarpur under MLA ND Sharma. We are placing our faith in AAP and are happy to acquire its membership. We will work extremely hard to support AAP.”
